Serie A Discussion

Still time to move to Saudi. Window still open, right?

It is but only for a day or two. Turkey has an additional couple of weeks but cannot imagine anyone there having the money to make it work.

Now the Saudi club can come back with a lower offer. What a disastrous situation, the kind that can derail his career development. I thought it was foolish at his age to look at the Saudi offer.

When does the UEFA list go in?

Well, he’s gone to Gala on loan. It’s a season long loan but there are reports he can leave in January if certain clubs offer him a permanent deal (some say we’re amongst those clubs).

De Rossi fired by Roma. They have drawn 3 and lost so far this season and after originally coming in half way through last season on a temporary basis only signed a contract extension through to 2027 in the summer.

Football management is so easy if you just fancy a pay off.

It is a weird one. He did really well taking over from Mourinho, turned their season around. I don’t really know why they have started so poorly this season, haven’t seen them. Lots of talent out the door, but they spent more than they have in years.

Nothing more than Milan deserve…I’m sure I’ve seen this brilliant start by them somewhere before with Pulisic scoring early.

All made him himself, Mkhitaryan showing his age.

Didn’t take long for a melee to break out, Bastoni v Morata.

Some pass by Barella out to DiMarco, Lautaro does his bit of magic before teeing DiMarco who arrows it in the far corner. Good game.

Come on ref, that’s never a pen. Clearly off Lautaro’s shoulder, this will be the quickest VAR turnover in football history…& is.

Pity the Derby della Lanterna is on at the same time as our match tomorrow, otherwise I would have streamed it.

Doria merda!

I did not have ‘McTominay takes Serie A by storm’ on my 2024/25 bingo card…

Over the years on these boards, I mentioned my childhood friend a few times who is Milan-supporting, die-hard Serie A fan. A few weeks ago, I received a message from him where he genuinely asked me how it was possible that Napoli managed to sign McTominay ahead of other clubs and how Man United let go of such a player. I’m talking about a man whose opinions on football I hold in very high regard, even if he loathes English football. I truly don’t know what happened there, maybe Man United have better players than we think and it’s the manager and board room who are holding them back.

I actually watched a Napoli game and was thinking ‘who is that guy? we should sign him’. Part of it is that Conte is not asking him to do what he cannot do, while letting him do everything he can. His work rate was never the problem at ManU, and Serie A is a slower league than the PL. All Conte is really asking him to do is recognize where on the field he should be applying himself.

The corollary is that Conte has clearly given him some real belief in what he can contribute, and it is all coming together. I think he really is playing at a higher level than he was at ManU, but isn’t actually a radically different player.

He was never the problem at Utd. He was never the solution either, but in a team with a coherent approach and players suited to their roles had a decent amount to offer.

Yup he is a decent player, not going win awards but he is a functioning player.

I’m not surprised at Conte improving players he finds a fit in his team.

He won the league with Victor Moses as his wingback.

Conte has a fixed notion of players he wants in his side and it goes well till he invariably quits.

I read Slur Alex went berserk when McTom was sold… some say his face went purple with rage, matched with his nose perfectly it said…

Roma sack Juric after only 12 games - these are the same guys about to buy Everton?, they’ve gone completely downhill since the somewhat shocking dismissal of DDR.

& that is 1 tight looking title race. Rooting for Atalanta or Lazio.

Mctomminay pokes it in from about a yard out after a nice flick on from Kvara’s corner. Napoli have barely had a kick in Inter’s half.

Oh wow Calhanoglu with an absolute screamer from 30 yards, gets a hand on it does Meret, but the power beats him.

I wonder if De Zerbi has an eye on the Roma job. He’s been making some barbed comments towards McCourt the last few weeks. Seems to be a pattern when he gets restless at a club.
