Should TAN ban X?

I have no idea where you’re going with this but as I’ve had one hell of a weekend and have hit the booze hard, I’m just bathing in Pep’s tears

Fair enough.

Given Elon Musk’s Nazi salute at the Trump inauguration, can we revisit the notion of banning X from the forum.

This is with utmost respect to those posters who link X and who use it as a source of information. I respect your choice, even if I don’t support it.

I think it’s timely to reopen ths discussion.

Sigh.

Not looking forward to replies in this thread…

I have now switched to using Bluesky and YouTube as an alternative as often as possible, but it really doesn’t always work. Unfortunately, there is still a lack of content/sources and the corresponding reach to completely switch over. Also… as I said, it takes a lot of time and is tedious. And I also think it’s important to keep an eye on X and not turn a blind eye to what’s happening there. Furthermore, I don’t want to be censored. I think it should be possible to leave it up to each individual. But I promise that I won’t buy a Tesla. :slightly_smiling_face:

Ah its ok.
Its different opinions, and we might be polar opposites on this.
My guess is we won’t ban X, but I still believe we should.

I won’t fall out with anyone that doesn’t agree, life is too short.

How do you have enough hours in a day with all that social media!

As I said before, we could automatically replace the links from x.com to xcancel.com

Not having the links automatically load will be a plus for @cynicaloldgit thread loading.

That would (presumably) deal with their traffic, but not the torrent of lies and hate that it generates.

Is it just a case of swapping x.com with xcancel.com? If it is, could that be programmed into the forum?

Aside from that, it would still rely on TAN users’ judgement not to link to things that are not true.

Yes and yes.

Well, if we could at least stop the X delay it would be a bonus. I trust everyone to be grown up with the links, or at least to have a stooshie when they don’t.

I’m wondering if it’s feasible/desirable to do a staggered ban, that is ban it for any transfer bullshit, and keep it only for current affairs?

Good luck with that.

I think we should hold a conference similar to COP21 called COX25 pronounce as Cocks25, Cancel Out X Agreement.

TAN agrees to a net zero Xmission by 2032 and reduce it by 10% every year before ramping it up from 2028 onwards.

Only COX use X.

People are free to use X as much as they like; if you want to spend all day there, and I’m sure some people do, go for it.

All I am asking is not to repost it here.

@Admins

Any value in a poll… If it passes X is banned. If it fails, any talk of banning it is off the table for 6 months.

Save us rinsing and repeating this conversation every few weeks.

Are we making the poll mandatory?

We’ll call it… say, the Xit referendum. It will takes ages to implement, and everyone will be unhappy by the end of it.
