Should TAN ban X?

Your reasons may not be , doesn’t mean others jumping in don’t use this thread for the same reason.

Again because you don’t like twitter, it’s still a call for censoring of a platform that others use .

I’m not advocating banning X. If you want to use it, go ahead.

Just don’t repost on this forum, that’s all.

Also it’s not all about Elon Musk…but then your second point is all about Elon Musk…

Again , you and a few others have taken issue with twitter…and now are calling for me to not post on this forum…do you not see how arrogant and stasi like that attitude is ?

So are you not okay with banning The S*n, or is censorship ok sometimes?

Really? Fuck me that’s a disgusting dig to try and score points and you should be ashamed of yourself

Ok, so you don’t have a reasoned response to that, cool.

The reasoned response is we all know what the sun did to our club over the years and that followed by years of denying it and covering up…with many from there involved still not accepting that we as supporters and a club were exonerated of all the lies.

That rag has nothing to do with the political agenda being sent forth on this debate about whether a platform should be banned.

I take a pragmatic view - I mostly use social media to be in touch with news about topics that are of interest to me. Twitter is a platform where such news are broken very quickly. Therefore, I use Twitter.

“Censorship is fine as long as I agree with it”.

What I’m trying to point out here is the hypocrisy of crying ‘censorship is bad’ as a blanket statement while being perfectly happy with it being applied to other sources. It seems clear that there are and should be exceptions. As a less volatile example, we already ban/censor dozens of ‘sources’ within Twitter and rightly so.

I thought Twitter was a cesspit long before Musk arrived on the scene, it has nothing to do with politics and I find it highly disingenuous to be claiming that’s what it’s all about.

Ok so you want to unban the S*n so no one can call the banning hypocritical as that would seem to be the only logical conclusion outside of banning everything.

The point is there are other platforms that provide the same service and it would be a minimal investment of time and effort to move from one to the other. Like I said above, I feel like for many Twitter has just become a habit rather than a necessity.

Ah, wild extremes, great debating there, well done.

It’s not a political agenda. It’s because of the amount of lies and disinformation that is put around by X. It played a major part in stirring up recent riots in Southport and caused a library in Liverpool to be burnt down. The owner of the platform will not take responsibility for that because “free speech”.

There are still reliable journalists who post on Twitter and you can see that @Magnus curates content that is not freely available elsewhere. However, many other journalists are now posting content in other places. It may be worth investigating those, for no other reason that even reliable links from X are a bugger to display in TAN.

Lmao you know the reason why the S*n is banned but tried to use that reference to exert a kind of emotional response that unites us all into accepting another move to ban a social media platform for reasons that are nothing to do with the above rag.

That’s the trouble with today’s world, when someone doesn’t like a counter argument they drag other things into a debate that has nothing to do with the actual debate…you can’t even admit it was bad form.

This is actually hilarious, coming from you. But then failing to read something properly and going off on a misguided, knee-jerk response is exactly the sort of behaviour I would expect from someone using Twitter, so I guess at least it’s on-brand.

Oh, definitely but that would require everyone I follow to collectively move on to another platform. If they do that and quit Twitter in the process, I will also move on to that other platform in order to continue following them.

Again LFC is on X, should we boycott the club?

Like I said, Joyce and other reputable journos are already using Threads. They won’t quit Twitter until it dies because they want views and clicks, but for those who don’t want to use the platform the alternative is already available.

Nobody anywhere has suggested boycotting organisations or individuals because they use Twitter, this is a silly argument.
