Yes, because much of the far-right crap is based on outright falsehoods and disinformation, and itās far louder than the far-left crap. Most of the loony far-left crap doesnāt even make it because itās just laughed at and ignored. But too many people believe the far-right crap.
Doesnāt make it a left vs right issue, it just makes it a truth vs lies issue.

If my own experience is anything to come by, itās because the iframe loads scripts from Xesspit to do so.
Iām not sure if it was you I was having a conversation with in another thread about how I donāt get previews. I also have NoScript that blocks out any scripts from Xesspit.

Well, those posts from threads came up straight away which is a much nicer reading experience. Itās just a pity that the pictures donāt show.

Well, Iām not that bothered about that. The second post I put in had a picture of Ronald Koeman which was part of the story. Now I can imagine what Koeman looks like but for a football forum, a picture can be worth a thousand words.

Itās rich for people in the west to tell me that itās not left Vs right because you all fucking speak left and right every single time. The left and right think they are correct always. The left and right thinks the other side is always to be blamed for whatever shit happened. People who vote for right or left will always be called names by the other side. So yeah itās not right or left.

As far as Iām aware given what @ISMF has said, I donāt think itās technically possible. I used to have less of an issue with the Xesspit because at least the API used to allow previews that were formatted by the site so they displayed immediately (and in full), meaning I could completely avoid that Xithole if I wanted to.
Now, I believe you have to use the embed method, which means that it has to load from Xitter, resulting in these issues.

This is literally the point I made above. And extremism of any kind sits outside of the normal political spectrum imho, wherever you are in the world, surely thatās understood?

Filtered through your own biases maybe, from a place that has absolutely no political culture whatsoever, just whatever your masters tell you to do.
For me it is a truth vs lies thing. Iām happy to read opinion pieces of any flavour as long as they are informed opinion. In fact, I rather miss the fact that there are hardly any centre-right opinion pieces left. One of the few places left that you actually get them is the Guardian which is a firmly liberal-left publication.

I read the Grauniad a lot, but selectively. They have a lot of drivel on there too.
I miss having publications with actual genuine journalism. Mostly rely on the FT and Reuters for that (although the former is expensive so I have to rely on scraps).

Previously it was easy to use an alternative Twitter frontend called Nitter, but this got less functional with the API limitation @ISMF mentioned.
Hereās an example of a tweet using an existing instance of Nitter to show the message:

Replacing x.com by nitter.lucabased.xyz will load the corresponding message, without ever loading anything from X.
I believe itās still possible to have a functioning Nitter instance as long as traffic is low. If this works for people, I could look into setting up a Nitter instance for this purpose and it should be quite easy to automatically rewrite any x.com or twitter.com to make it seamless to use for anyone.

Itās interesting reading this in one go having not contributed thus far.
In someways it reads a bit like Twitter. Someone says something, and then within a few posts people are moaning about the left trying to ban free speech.
My views on Twitter are that it has turned from something that was genuinely useful and exciting, into a really unpleasant hive of racists and fascists, tinpot contrarians and conspiracy theorists with dark opinions being validated by Russian bots.
I think it is actively contributing to the decline of civilisation, with misinformation, lies and propaganda allowed and encouraged to spread like wildfire. The recent riots in the UK are a direct consequence of the post first, think later attitude of most Twitter users, not to mention how the site is being used by hostile foreign actors to wage an online disinformation war against us, a war in which weāre only too happy to shoot ourselves for the enemy.
Then in the centre you have Elon Musk. A Bond Villain in a world without Bond. With him it isnāt a left/right thing. The man is fucking unhinged, and he has access to the minds of millions of users of his platform.
Which brings us to the idea of a ban from TAN. Iām not in favour of it, largely because it would be nigh on impossible to police, and none of the mods have to time or the energy to go round deleting posts whenever someone forgets.
But my appeal would be to make yourself one of the droves of people abandoning Twitter for alternatives. Social media isnāt good for you full stop, but Twitter is the absolute worst. Leave it behind. Save civilisation.
