Does the FM here stand for Fading Memories?

I like trying to predict squad building moves for clubs. So for Palace, letting so many players go creates lots of squad gaps. This is my prediction for how they fill it (this is also predicting Frank Lampard takes over from Hodgson)…

Player PS Age Mins Goals Assists Replacement Current Club
Andros Townsend RW 29 2103 1 4 Victor Moses Chelsea
Joel Ward RB 31 2075 0 1 New Contract Crystal Palace
Patrick van Aanholt LB 30 1863 0 1 Ryan Bertrand Southampton
Christian Benteke CF 30 1808 9 1 New Contract Crystal Palace
Gary Cahill CB 35 1620 1 1 Harry Souttar Stoke City
James McArthur CM 33 1471 0 2 Conor Gallagher Chelsea
Jeffrey Schlupp LW 28 1364 2 3 Brandon Pierrick Crystal Palace U23s
Scott Dann CB 34 1350 1 0 New Contract Crystal Palace
Nathaniel Clyne RB 30 1237 0 1 Nathan Ferguson Crystal Palace
James McCarthy CM 30 722 0 0 Ruben Loftus-Cheek Chelsea
Mamadou Sakho CB 31 349 0 0 Marc Guehi Chelsea
Wayne Hennessey GK 34 90 0 0 Jack Butland Crystal Palace
Martin Kelly RB 31 90 0 0 Malachi Boateng Crystal Palace U23s
Sam Woods CB 22 61 0 0 Dion Sanderson Wolves
Connor Wickham CF 28 0 0 0 Alfie Matthews Crystal Palace U23s
Stephen Henderson GK 33 0 0 0 Oliver Webber Crystal Palace U23s

I’m making allowances for stupid moves such as signing Victor Moses just because he was good for them when he was 19.

Would give them a starting lineup next season of…

Guaita
Ferguson Kouyate Souttar Mitchell
Loftus-Cheek Milivojevic Gallagher
Eze Benteke Zaha

Subs: Butland; Dann, Guehi, Ward, Bertrand, Riedewald, Moses, Ayew, Pierrick,

I can see Tammy following Frank to Palace, maybe on a loan move? It could also be a good opportunity for Harry Wilson, he did well for Frank at Derby.

Great post/analysis @Sweeting .

Too many Chelsea players though.

They have players to feed the whole league.

I would really hope City go for Kane and leave Haaland alone. Haaland in that City side would just be crazy.

Levin Oztunali from Mainz to Union Berlin on a free.

Fun fact:
He is the grandson of German football legend Uwe Seeler.

That’s bloody £530k per week. :joy:

Eh? The guy played exactly 0 seconds for Leipzig since he signed.

Give a deal to Nat Phillips until 2026. :joy:

We mentioned the other day how Chelsea will have loads of players to sell for big money - well, here are some of them. Add Abraham to this list and I’m sure they’ll be expecting to raise 100 million pounds from the five of them alone.

Yeah, stocks selling!

Generate around £100m through selling players who weren’t even part of the team.

Just like Real last summer. :joy:

Man, I’m a bit jealous of Chelsea in that aspect - it’s not that the likes of Grujić and Wilson had poor spells out on loan, quite the opposite, yet Edwards couldn’t shift them for much less money than these Chelsea rejects are said to cost. And that’s not the half of them (if we’re talking about those with “higher” profile)!

Abraham makes up nearly half that figure and he has been around the 1st team.

Not true. Edwards couldn’t sell Grujic or Wilson last summer due to COVID economy. Chelsea would have struggled too to get good fees for their lot.

What happened to Tomori? Started brightly and even earned himself a callup to the England squad. Now he is a cast off to AC Milan.

At that price of 28M, would he be a better buy than Konate or Kabak?
