Really glad for the “Cinderella” win. Cignetti is a fantastic coach. Won titles wherever he’s gone. Expect to see him in the pros soon.

Miami defense was good, but showed themselves to be the thugs that they’ve always been. I guess when you have “cocaine and whores” Irvin, and “manslaughter” Lewis on the sidelines, you know what they stand for.

Number 8 should have been tossed after the blatant cheap shot on Indy QB, and saw that after the game, the Miami RB was throwing punches at Indy player(s). Should get a couple game sit down to start next season.

Way to go to college football’s all-time leading losers!

Well…maybe not in West Lafayette or South Bend? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Wonderful showing. IU shows what the term “team” really means. Collectively, they rose to being the best in the country!

I’ve mentioned it with regards to Liverpool but the mentality of being champions or bust is really damaging I think. If the only goal is to win it and anything short is failure leaves little room for excitement or enjoyment from a fan perspective and leads to short term drcision making by coaches.

Buffalo may feel theybare wasting their window but that’s more to do with their WR1 being Khalil Shakir than it is to do with McDermott.

Yeah and from having spent a good amount of time in upstate the last few years what I have experienced of the fan base is one that appreciates that this period is not the norm and are enjoying it for what it is. The Bills mafia are never going to be confused for Cowboys fans. So this one doesn’t seem to be driven by fan pressure.

I can confirm people here a little shocked. Firing the coach while giving Brandon Bean a promotion has everyone wondering wtf is going on. Coach has been great. Are there small but loud sections of fans that want more? Yes. But we have consistently not drafted that well and each year we have holes in the roster that seem to stem from the GM, not the coach - ie the wide recievers this year and always the defensive line.

Before McDermott came in we were a laughing stock. Bean came in roughly the same time, so if this year isn’t great, Bean is probably out as well. Only possibility this might be for the best is if they promoted Bean up and out, and will hire a GM this offseason to work under Bean. Not sure.

Didn’t they come in together from Carolina? I was living in Charlotte at the time, and seem to recall that.

They hired McDermott first in Jan, got through the draft, and then brought Beane on board in May after the draft. So Beane’s first real year of input came offseason 2018, even though they were hired months apart.

The Annual NFL Coaching Carousel has begun.

Yesterday’s trash will be someone else’s treasure.

Harbaugh and Stefanski successfully recycled, and McDermott will not be out of work long.

It always amazes me that long-time/well-qualified coaches, are so summarily dispatched…while the dispatchers look for the next Sean McVey. (Although I see even Gruden being bandied about!). Always looking for the next best thing….only to sack them in 3 years. Mind-bending.

For all our debate over Slot, at least we’re not Steelers fans

Ok, Is this the thread about American football? That ‘gridiron’ thing?

Ok, I know nothing about it except they play for about 10 seconds, all fall over and the have a 10 min ad break. However, it has come to my attention that there’s a thing called the ‘Superbowl’ (which sounds like the brand name of one of those fancy Japanese toilets), which is happening soon.
I know this because there’s a bloke called Naughty Bunny who’s going to perform there, and, for some reason, that’s triggered the Magas.
Anyway, now I’ve just heard that this thing, which is kind of like the FA Cup Final with extra bling, is going to be between The New England Patriots, who belong to some Trumpist dick, and The Seattle Squawks, who have a cool and groovy owner.
So, if this is true, aren’t we all supporting Seattle?

It could well be that I’ve got it all wrong, as I don’t know the difference between a tight end and a running back (please don’t attempt to explain), but aren’t we all Squawkies now?

Cannot wait for days of discussions on whether Puerto Ricans are actually Americans. Its going to be great

It’s the only reason I’ll watch the game, to see the SHOW!

I’ve got no dog in the fight, though Drake Maye, Patriots QB, played at our local high school where my girls went. He was a sophomore when my youngest was a senior. Watched him play most of his home games, and a few playoff games for three years. Glad he made the big game, but I think he’s gonna get smashed.

Personally, I’d like to see the Pats get ground into dust and lose by approximately 658987745 points.

I’m going 24 - 7 for the Seahawks - I’ll see tomorrow!

Got it on here. I’m going 27-20 Seattle.

Apparently there’s an alternate half time show. I don’t get it. I’ll be watching Bad Bunny. Not too familiar, but let’s see the show and good luck to him. My daughter tells me he is huge, so just shows I’m not up with the times very well.

I’m a casual NFL fan. I’ll watch the Super Bowl, not with maximum attention, catch the commercials, watch the half time show and enjoy far too many chicken wings. Mrs ROTW has a marinade to die for, then we bake them. That will do for me.

It’s not easy to stomach this corporate wankfest without a drink.

My favourite thing about the Superbowl is that it means baseball season is just round the corner.
