Conspicuous by her absence - Maria seems to have gone AWOL.!
Hope everything is good @Maria
Nine years ago, very close to the day… Rodgers was losing the plot after the highs of 13/14, Liverpool were losing and I was browsing the TIA match day thread and got mad enough to sign up very specifically to tell people to go support someone else if they can’t support the team. Went down like a lead balloon and LFC Eddie, bless his stalking cotton socks, was the first one to reply to me. I stayed, weirdly enough, and found it alright. Made some friends and can honestly say that I have probably missed less than 20 days without logging in in the past 9 years and it is my tradition that I check the line up on here first an hour before every game.
I’d have a beer with all of you although I’d probably chuck one or two off a bridge before the night was done and I am sure some of you would gladly chuck me over as well. Nothing wrong with that, takes all the colors to make a rainbow doesn’t it. My time to say goodbye has come, however, and to all… well, bye, I guess.
Pity mate, as I really think you are a great poster on here.
As you said,
All colours to make the rainbow.
Sorry you feel its time to leave.
Sorry to see you and @anon27364116 leave, thought about it myself too but decided to stick to the LFC topics and leave the rest for what t is.
I wish you both the best and stay safe.
@wyld.at.hrt - When feelings are obviously running high… why not just take a step or two back for a little while, instead of throwing your hand, and valued participation, in for good.
Just let the heat of the moment go out of the situation, and return, even just for footballing reasons, whenever it suits… Be another loss to the site if you don’t.
Sorry to see you go. You were a good poster and valued member of the TAN family. And, like any family, we’re not all going to agree on everything all the time. Arguments happen; doesn’t mean that you have to walk out.
As both @Dutch and @sandsoftime have said, why not just stick to the football forums?
Also, I put two users on ignore, it does wonders for your blood pressure
I’d agree with what COG just said.
Leave the ‘door’ open…take time to chill…
Why are we closing a thread on the most important current event in the world, because a couple of wet wipes can’t handle people disagreeing with them?
I’ve been to Israel and Palestine, and have friends there now texting me updates. That’s why I’m passionate about it, and angry. Have received abuse on the Middle East thread (including from the poster who’s leaving) but it’s water off a ducks back, as it should be. It’s just a football forum ffs. We’re incredibly privileged to be talking about it from a distance when people are putting their kids to bed not knowing if they’re going to wake up.
As far as I’m aware, the poster above has no personal connection to the situation. If they want to storm off in a tantrum because someone disagreed with them, then let them. Keep the thread open for the adults in the room
Open a thread about why we shouldn’t close threads then.
Exactly … and they’ve left now anyway.
Come on mods , this is just too important to shut down.
I’ve had a few scuffles on here, never had reason to question the site team who’s work is exemplary.
However, locking the ME thread? Let people argue, we’re almost all adults after all.
Love your Avatar.
Just a temporary pause to take some air out of the ball. At this point, I think the damage has been largely done.
The fact that one ‘side’ of a dialogue has successfully driven off the other is not exactly a compelling reason to re-open it.
I don’t think anybody was ‘driven off’ , they went of their own volition , and I still don’t really understand why.
Exactly the situation that the poor buggers find themselves in now. On both sides.
I just never understand locking threads.
Thread will be reopened in 24 hours.
For me it’s sad to see two posters leave the forum we actively encourage different view points. Last thing we want is for it to be an echo chamber like some other sites.
I can only assume they had a personal connection to conflict. As the discussion was civil and largely moderate. Wanting peace, concern for civilians, criticising governments.
I appreciate its a emotional topic but the forum will be poorer without @wyld.at.hrt and @anon27364116. I will hope that perhaps in a few weeks or months you change your mind and come back to the forum.
They weren’t driven off the thread. I didn’t see a single personal attack or anything even mildly aggressive.
Over 3000 children dead in just 3 weeks in Gaza, and we’re locking threads because a couple of people can’t cope with having their views challenged. Some perspective needed
