Whatever way the media want to portray us for this season… We have been relentless in our pursuit of the PL crown… Simples
Yeah even Man Utd spent a day on top
Weren’t they top on the first day alphabetically
Wasn’t it AFC Bournmouth that was technically top?
Bournemouth have beaten them 3 times this season then
I think City’s collapse probably plays a part in this as it is easy to forget how points wise, they had a strong start to the season only dropping their first points in late September (draws against Arsenal and Newcastle) before going into October picking up more wins. while Arsenal drew against Brighton in their third game and then from late September never really got a big run in the league without dropping points - for example they then lost to Bournemouth going into October and drew against us before dropping points to Newcastle and Chelsea in early November.
We’d been top from as early as late September, relinquished top spot to City after our 2-2 draw with Arsenal in late Oct, but it got the lead back the following week and never gave it back.
We’re going to end up having been top at the end of 32 of 38 “match weeks”
I think we lost the title that weekend.
I remember one of the talking heads saying we had thrown it away.
The only way it makes sense to me at the moment is that they’ve bottled it from the perspective that they should have been the natural beneficiaries from a City collapse.
It just reeks of entitlement, which is odd seeing they haven’t won the league in twenty years.
The entitlement that they feel they should be walking the league once City had their fall off. Hasn’t happened.
They’ve spent loads of money and have the delusion that they are the best team in the league.
When the ((self)annointed best team doesn’t win the league, it’s called choking or bottling up. When they choke doesn’t matter.
They weren’t even top of the league for a single game week.
For reference, clubs and weeks on top:
- Liverpool: 32
- Man City: 5
- Brighton: 1
- Arsenal: 0
Let alone game weeks they’ve not spent a single day at the top.
Even Man Utd did that, I’ve heard that is currently the DVD.
Been waiting all season to pile into Arsenal (and United). Not quite there yet, I’m sharpening the knife, and hopefully can unload by the end of this week.
Arsenal probably won’t get past PSG. United losing in the EL final against spurs thanks to a highly dubious and incredibly spawny Spurs penalty in the 90+9th minute when only 8 were to be added on, won by a Richarlison dive and scored by Dom Solanke will likely send me into an apoplectic spasm lasting an entire weekend.
Yep United 17th and no CL would be delightful.
Arsenal no trophy whilst Spurs jag one would be more than acceptable.
Fingers crossed.
Arsenal still haven’t secured Champions League football for next season.
Three Premier League games remain
