Canada is approaching 10x - my suspicion is the redundancy is in part to cover the supply chaos we are now seeing. We expect to get screwed by the US and the EU, just a matter of ensuring that it doesn’t happen at the same time.
Having already been screwed over by China, does that make Canada the unluckiest country?
Probably not so much luck. We are firmly embedded in a huge economic bloc that limits our alternatives. The problem is the economic bloc is dominated by about 320 million narcissists, give or take a few sound ones. So we are effectively an isolated middle power.
Looking more and more like our Minister of Science and Industry who ‘stepped away from Cabinet to spend more time with family’ jumped or was pushed over the Chinese vaccine deal - it now appears the Chinese government stopped it within a week of the announcement, the Canadian government did not come clean for 3 months - and did not get alternatives in place for two.
The Pfizer situation with the EU and the US could end up being the end for Trudeau.
Germany has apparently just demanded that the EU stop all vaccine exports.
Does shopping with the US feel dirty now given what’s gone on there in the last 4+ years?
Well…the UK is looking for a post brexit trade deal… 
Not much we can do about it, at least not in the near term. Worse being in a diplomatic spat similar to Australia’s with China (also caused by the US). Brits have basically gone insane in the past 5 years, EU aren’t particularly reliable friends. The world is not as friendly a place as it was a decade ago.

Yeah, there were slim hopes that Canada would be able to get access to Pfizer supplies from the Kalamazoo plant, and the very next day the news about the huge discrepancy in US stock numbers broke. That is likely a closed door for months.

The UK plan to make 180 million doses of the Novarax (J&J) vaccine. Get them from us.
Canada has purchase agreements for 20 million of AZ, and 38 million of J&J - not sure which plants would supply. Timing obviously will see some ramp up.

Yes, I suspect that concern for vaccine nationalism will be at a low ebb here six months from now, when the WHO comes calling about ‘averting moral failure’.
One health region (and not a large one, Simcoe-Muskoka) has announced 100+ cases of the B117 variant. I expect we will see a third March-April spike now, maybe even earlier.
