The Corona Pandemic

Report from Switzerland: 31k new cases here yesterday, that’s double than one week ago (in the UK, it would amount to 255k new cases daily respectively to population). Yet, hospitalisations are steadily declining (around half of hospitalisations than three weeks ago). Number of deaths also still in decline (3 yesterday). Something has changed.

The Nuremburg Code is about forced medical experiments. If you think the vaccine rollout is in anyway comparable to a forced medical experiment in the way the NC was written to consider, you need to give your head a firm wobble.

Seriously fuck off ,you don’t know me or thankfully my medical status, just rushing out to look good with the virtual signalling that others here spark, but no worries you’ll have the backing…keep insulting people who hold different opinions etc and force them to comply see how that ends

Bullfuckingshit. You have more nonsensical theory and justification for them than anyone so don’t hide behind the ‘oh I don’t have time for the internet’. Narrative my arse, it’s common sense.

edit the vaccine question was answered for you. I’ve literally no time to stroke your ego. It’s because of people like you that we’re stretching this fucked up way of jliving now further and further.

Steady lads, nothing comes from insulting each other. Tackle the ball please, not the man.

I prefer to be much to the point when confronted with idiocy. The man after all, is carrying the ball.

I don’t mean to be harsh, but the hearing in question was indeed in Texas. The assertion was made by Texas State Senator Bob Hall, as a preamble to his question. His question was directed to Dr. Angelina Farrella, a pediatrician from Webster, Texas, who is against vaccines in general, and certainly against covid vaccines. She enthusiastically agreed with his condemnation. She at least has a qualification that would suggest some understanding. Hall’s authority derives from … a video he saw, by his own admission. Neither one of them had anything to do whatsoever with the approval process.

I would guess what is happening is that Omicron is crowding out Delta. It may not stay that way, but it would explain falling hospitalization, given that Switzerland has been on a significant upward slope since late October.

Silver linings…

That’s the problem hope , we use to have a variety of people who used to debate and give various examples …but sadly this has become an echo chamber at times here , and those who do not accept anything as a 100% are marginalized and in all honesty have probably left or no longer bother trying to engage .

I mean mention of the Nuremberg code was talked by our resident lawyer as something that would be interesting to see how that would pan out …but other try to use it as an attack tool whilst others can see what it was intended to protect us against.

Maybe I’ll just leave it at that at see how the next 2 years or so pans out

I don’t know you, luckily enough. Doesn’t mean I’m not going to call you out on spouting nonsense. Too much of that goes unabated and gives morons a platform to preach idiocy.

Exactly, Omicron is now 65% of all new cases.

Thank you Arminius , sadly I don’t get as much time to follow every detail , I read the article that someone posted it on, I don’t pretend to know much about state politics when it comes to America nor who the people are , I take what I was shown on face value and make a judgement on what it contains, thanks for the clarification on the details of those it involves

The data from Denmark shows that if you are currently at 65%, Omicron will be approaching 100% by the end of the weekend. It is terrifyingly fast, but that is the basis of my optimism that the end could be upon us.

It is deeply exasperating to see how much energy has been poured into creating uncertainty. One of my first cousins started down that rabbit hole in the summer, and the anger and frustration that we have all been feeling clearly doesn’t really get helped by finding someone to focus on. His mental health has clearly deteriorated, now his marriage appears to be faltering, and I really believe that process started because of the stampede to vaccines when they became available here in May.

On that note, if you have not been vaccinated, I’d urge you to do so as one of the few members of humanity with access in a possibly relevant timescale. Most of us are going to get Omicron, and if you haven’t had a variant before, esp. in the past 6 months, you are really rolling the dice. I am fortunate to have as a graduate school acquaintance someone who is an MD/Ph.D at Duke Medicine, which ran one of the pediatric Pfizer trials - though he was not involved in it professionally. He is one of the most risk-adverse people I have ever met, and has all the background to truly understand the science. He volunteered his own 9-year old for the trial after having done his own due diligence. That was good enough for me, and as of this week, all my kids have had two doses.

I’ve heard this, and have been patiently waiting for the 18 months to pass. Apparently a horse drug is better despite not being tested for Covid. Looking forward to understanding how a vaccine which has reducing efficacy with time has an increased ability to kill someone in the same period.

Just a query, is it not normal to kill animals after a trial?

Secondly there is some variance between vaccines. A very fundamental difference in some cases.

Ignore me (again) all answered above

Absolutely. It seems to be great news. Let’s just hope that Omicron won’t show to have some form of long-time effect or so. But otherwise, I’m more and more optimistic that we will be out of the woods in a few weeks.

I admire your patience bud. To be completely honest, I’ve found in person that views have become entrenched and no matter how articulately you try and rebut and convince, a new round of mental gymnastics will be attempted to try and get around the bare facts. I’ve also found, in person, that pure scorn and utter open and bareface incredulity at the stupidity of the person tends to act like a dash of cold water.

Why do you think there is an issue with this?

EDIT: I have subsequently see your response to this, and I say this with as much respect as I can muster but you really need to take a step a consider your perspective. You speak about questioning the narrative, but you are putting more stock on a two people completely removed from the trial process, one of whom doesnt understand anything about it, talking about second hand information of a video one of then has seen. And you are putting more stock into that than the wealth of public information available about the trial process.

Take a step back and question your own narrative, because I assure you, yours is more at odds with reality and publicly available information than the one you are asking people to question.

Why do you think the normal process of informed consent (including the right to withdraw consent at any time for any reason) was not applied for these studies?

This is not an accurate representation of the protections provided under the 2005 PREP Act, which is what this concern is based on. There was already reasonable liability protection for biotech companies in the event of patients experiencing adverse events. It’s not universal, it is a pretty complex issue, but generally as long as the risks were adequately reported (and this is determined by the FDA as part of the approval process) then there is fairly broad liability protection already.

One of the few things Bush left the White House with credit over was his focus on pandemic preparedness. You can argue he came to the see the light for the wrong reasons (muslims) but he put his adminstration to work to figuring out how to better prepare for unknown pandemics. What he expected of the biotech companies was simply not feasible for them from a financial and risk perspective, so they came up with the PREP Act, which in this context, shifted liability from the companies to the federal government for things that went wrong with a product approved by said federal government to be used in response to a declared public health emergency. This still required all the checks and balances of the research and approval process to be carried out, as we’ve had with the covid vaccines, but it just provided enough risk removal for the biotech companies to participate in the response.

Importantly, there are still exceptions to this protection for misconduct, including fraud.

I have a huge amount of patience for people who are genuinely trying to understand, and have real uncertainty. I completely understood Semmy’s doubts about getting his child vaccinated, the kind that can gnaw away at you.
Unfortunately, I have run across relatively few people with what is truly doubt in the last few months, and far more people willing to grab the latest piece of conjured up disinformation to offer up as ‘proof’. If my cousin wasn’t my cousin, I would have cut him loose ages ago.

The Nuremberg Code is something I’ve also brought up before. It’s a really interesting ethical discussion in relation to vaccination and restrictions on civil liberties, and discussing it should not have been shut down in the way attempted.
