The Cricket Thread (Part 2)

A sensible decision by the ECB, for once.

Did you mean ā€˜soft in the head’?

Not as bad as Ben Duckett. Fundamentally the culture is rotten and McCullum needs to go

Boozeball does make for an exciting watch at times but yeah it’s probably time to move on and install a new leadership team to take over after this series and increase the professionalism

Yeah I’m still trying to understand why Baz is still in his position.

And I think Ben wasn’t far away from relinquishing the captaincy. He’s definitely not going to be there for the next Ashes even as a player. And he may just quit himself.

I hope there’s a match(es) ban and they leave it at that along with a final warning.

I’ve also heard that they may have just lost track of time, having planned to come back before the curfew.

Plus the test was over.

He’s done a LOT for English Cricket. And they had nothing to do with the incident, it was the Saracens lad who couldn’t handle his drink.

Lost track of time because they were pissed.

As for the replacements, Archer makes sense. Not sure why they’ve called up Cox though. Rew is already there as a spare bat and Ahmed would be an all round replacement.

And in a nightclub…something people famously do when their intention is a cheeky pint before getting back home early

This is from his Wikipedia page:
In May 2025, it was reported that Stokes had quit alcohol having reportedly been abstinent since 2 January.

To be honest I think I’ve not drank for longer periods of that without even trying.

He’s got a problem certainly, it’s a bit like those that have to do dry January.

The most beautiful part of that wiki text is the 2nd January.
