The Cricket Thread

Sorry GK, love Australia, love Aussies, but will never be able to stand the cricket team. All those years of arrogance and lack of respect for opponents has left an indelible scar. Obviously, there is a lot of understandable antipathy around the world towards England too, but the Australian cricket team are impossible to warm to.

Having said that, I’m a huge admirer of Pat Cummings. He’s a great player and a genuinely good bloke.

Australia wresting back the initiative. 300 would be very difficult for India to chase.

9 wickets for the Aussie spinners, seems the selectors made the right call with the bowling line up.

Not sure why it has taken so long to figure this out, as India has always been heavily spin friendly.

Let’s keep in mind this is in India. We could put on a 150 run partnership here then fold like a cheap suit losing 5 or 6 wickets in quick succession. 300 would be a dream right now. I don’t really have confidence in this batting lineup in these conditions. Would love them to prove me wrong though. At least Warner isn’t in the batting lineup.

This entire issue is highly dependent on aus winning the toss and bowling last. Just imagine playing with three spinners with only one frontline pacer and then bowling first on this.

Aus got out of jail because india batted poorly (which they have been doing for quite a long time of late)

That could equally be turned on it’s head to say India got out of jail because Australia batted poorly (keep in mind Aus have 4 of the top 10 ranked batsmen) and Smith dropped a couple of costly catches on the tail end partnership.

India are only in this game because Australia let them😉.

This be especially true. Probably the equivalent of 36 all out.

Again… the problem with picking three spinners , none of them allrounders is that one spinner eventually gets underutilized.

Baffling selection by Aussies and one which should be criticized.

Just imagine the state if they lose the toss and are put into bowling with only one pacer on a fresh wicket.

You can’t plan your playing xi hoping that you win the toss.

You really are putting way too much emphasis on this. Not one wicket fell by a fast bowler in Australia’s 2nd batting innings.

Magic stuff from England, excellent all round. Broad and Anderson rolling back the years. Again.

There’s plenty of criticism here in Australia.

What about the wickets taken by the pacers in the Aussie first innings.

This is a defeatist attitude taken and only fitting that the attitude got what it deserved.

And not what I would expect an Aussie team to take. Stick to your strengths , spin isn’t one of it despite the wickets being taken

Australia got disintegrated in their minds before even playing the first ball. This is a very limited Indian batting line-up and well …

Crazy isn’t it, write these guys off and yet they still compete.

England 101-3 after a wobbly start. Brook with yet another 50. The guy is incredible. I hope Root can get a score.

Brook 100, Root 50.

Great stuff!

Kiwis really missing Trent Boult.

Harry Brook is the real deal!!

Is there something wrong with Southee’s bowling shoulder? He keeps grimacing and massaging that area

What’s the intended outcome of Wagner bowling bouncers? He’s the shortest and slowest of all their seamers. Duly smacked for 10 that over

I love how Brook looks like a player from the 1930s. You could imagine him on a cigarette card.
