Sensational Bazball today. Some absolutely brutal hitting, some wickets absolutely gifted away to NZ. Could have got upwards of 500 against that weak NZ bowling attack.
Wish Root would reign it in a bit though, his returns of late have been paltry by his usual standards. Somebody who is naturally busy at the crease anyway doesn’t need to be going gung-ho and getting out playing a shot like he did.
Imagine Root had this form before Bazball 
Australia only going in with one specialist quick bowler. It would have been potentially harakiri if they had lost the toss
Can the Aussies just fly home and forfeit the final two tests? Doing that will probably be less embarrassing than what we are witnessing here.
not a bad session for Aus in hindsight , Could have done without losing smith / marnus wickets though.
But the attitude of not picking a second pacer for an australian team is baffling. It’s almost like they expect Delhi to behave the same way as the pitch in Nagpur. Delhi is a dark soil wicket which will behave differently from how Nagpur behaves , any movement / turn will be slow and low. Also , the pitches in Delhi are more liable to aid reverse swing.
Yeah I wouldn’t say we are out of this. I think if the pitch does what a lot are predicting and that it explodes in a couple of days, its anyone’s game. Australia obviously needs to at least get to those couple of days though

Absolutely appalling review by India there. Watching it live and seeing the massive inside edge I was asking “what the hell are they reviewing that for?” I wasn’t wrong thinking that

It looks like a mistake for NZ to bat first but hugely impressive how we have manipulated the time to bowl under lights.

It’s funny how even in the BT commentary every Indian wicket is “terribly unlucky” but the opposite when the Aussie wickets fall. Everyone is either on the India love train or the anti-Australia hate train ( likely the latter).
We really let the game slip in that last session and a half. Had them on the ropes and couldn’t deliver the knockout blow. Probably more to do with playing a middle/tail built for these conditions and spin, whereas or tail definitely isn’t. Playing for the new ball is no way to captain from Cummins. Only tiny positive is at least the new ball worked.
Now the game is probably decided on how much damage limitation our top and middle order can handle. On form, not much. But batting last will be difficult for India so I think the result will be apparent in the next two sessions.
