So in a totally different game compared to opening the innings in a test in the Ashes series, might not be the best time to try something new like pushing Marsh up to opener

Could hardly be worse than Warner dabbing one to the cordon on any given number between 1 and 15 though. Openers, wicket keepers and captains must be the most protected species in all of sport.

Except for footballers who play for either of the Manchester clubs.

For me, I’m desperate for Warner to stay in the side. There’s a very good chance Broad can break McGrath’s bunny record and take the outright lead with 20 or 21 Warner wickets, and that dead chicken eternally hanging 'round Davey’s neck is exactly the sort of parting gift he deserves.

Warner back in the summer with extreme pressure over being dropped decided to get on the front foot (the only front foot shot we are likely to see from him these days) and announce his retirement for the following summer series, effectively announcing a 12 months stay of execution. My wish is merely retribution for this and all the rest of his shithousery across his career.

Given that Australia have played with 10 men for this latest ICC test cycle and are still test champions, I feel carrying Warner for two more Ashes matches won’t damage our chances of winning the series while giving us a great chance for Warner to break a record at the same time.

Make it happen Broad!

Cummins isn’t exactly the greatest captain. Far too slow bringing on Murphy in the second innings when trying to protect a small lead. Just a poor use of him.

Warner isn’t going anywhere, but if he was, I’d open with Head and play both Marsh and Green:

Head
Khawaja
Marnus
Smith
Green
Marsh
Carey
Starc
Cummins
Hazlewood
Murphy

Hazlewood absolutely must come in for Boland, who has been attacked by England and he’s bowled gash because of it. I think the above lineup would also allow us to play Starc and Hazlewood regularly given their workload would be much lower with two all-rounders in the side.

It’s a tough one but Bairstow and Ali don’t demand places.

GK, Your thing with Warner is a bit out of hand, don’t you think?

Have you considered therapy? I’m sure you can find a counsellor who specialises in unhealthy obsessions with unpleasant cricketers.

I’d drop Mo and play the runt who bowled and caught me this afternoon. Turned it a bit and I went all 6 jackpot ding ding ding at the ball. Toe ended it and he caught a dolly. Git.

Warner is a right cunt though and his pedigree comes through even amongst the illustrious line of baggy green cunts.

Yeah, all that sandpapering sure does clear away that green gunk and let’s the pedigree shine through

I know, loyalty and all that, but how you ignore that wicketkeeping performance I don’t know.

And Mo.

Lost ODI series to Afghanistan :afghanistan: :man_facepalming:

No shame in that to be fair Ifti. It looks like a very low scoring match. What happened?

Afghanistan do have some good players. No shame in that

Surprised to see Robinson still in the squad. It looked like he’d miss a game at least.
Either way, I’m still for bringing Anderson back for OT.
Not for sentimental reasons, I think he should be picked for cricketing reasons. Robinson has been disappointing regardless of his injury at Headingley, so, if it’s a choice between Jimmy and Tongue, you’re looking at almost certainly England’s greatest ever bowler, with 686 wickets at an average of 26, bowling on his home ground, where he knows every blade of grass, in conditions which are ideal for his style of bowling, versus a guy who’s played 2 tests (one against Ireland).
Tongue looks like he may have a future for England, if he can stay fit, but for this one match, I’d back Jimmy to be the greater threat.

Disagree. It’s like Liverpool loosing to Brighton. Afghanistan played well and they deserve all the credit, but Bangladesh were underwhelming must be subjected to some scrutiny (which will never happen).

Bangladesh isn’t the cricketing equivalent of Liverpool though. They’ve impressed in spurts and have generally had a improvement in terms of cricketers produced but haven’t been consistent enough to be rated as among the top 4-5.
