Tom Banton finishes the day 344 not out for Somerset, surpassing the record score for the county. Should really have had more opportunities on the international stage imo. James Rew also hit 152, somebody who I think will play for England in the near future.

And talking about concussions. .

Pucowski finally calls it quits.

Sad end to a career ,but was something bound to happen.

What this lad is doing, at such a tender age, is quite remarkable.

Of course, being a teenage prodigy doesn’t guarantee future success, but his natural talent is astonishing.

Just watched this lad smashing boundaries all round the pitch and it really is unbelievable that a 14 year old could have the physique and strength to do that… at 14 he still has about 4 years of growth left…

As you say he could just burn out and I hope they manage him carefully…

It’s not that easy to fudge ages now (as compared to before in the subcontinent) but I do have my doubts he’s 14.

Either way smashing knock.

Hmmm I didn’t want to say that but yes it crossed my mind too. I assume every birth is officially registered now in India?

Apparently only had his 14th birthday last month.

However, two years ago he gave an interview and said that he would turn 14 on September 27, 2023. This would make him around a year and a half older than his official age.

Yeah. It’s a lot tougher to fudge ages now. But he comes from Bihar(a state which has had prior history) for doing the same. If he’s not 14 , he’s 16. Still a stupendous achievement.

On the other hand, there is talk that @SBYM overstated his age.

Are there any senior citizen benefits ala in India which come when people overstate their age ?

My guess is it earns @SBYM much-needed communal respect.

I’ve got a lot of love for Rohit. A wonderfully exciting player to watch when on song.
Sad to see him go :worried:

Became a passenger at the end. Was never a test batsman for me. Good captain..

Test average of 40.
Nothing wrong with that.

If you look at the overall averages. Yeah. But he’s never had defining test knocks the way the likes of Sehwag did before.

Comparing like to like as in both openers.

But for me , he’s a very good limited overs batsman. Very easy on the eye and effortless shot making.

I like watching him bat in full flow more than I like watching Kohli bat.

I’m sorry, but any other Test team in the world would love to have an opener who averages 40.
He’s had plenty of big knocks i his career and has served India well. Why not just be gracious and acknowledge that?
Moaning about him and calling him not good enough just smacks of entitlement.
