Not sure how England will take 20 wickets with the attack they’ve selected, and given the changes India will likely have to make as well it has another draw written all over it.
This toss is the 15th India have lost in a row in all formats. That’s a record.
It’s a one in 32,768 chance.
This is very fucked.
How can people be so unlucky with the toss ?
Take it with as much of a pinch of salt as it needs to be taken. But a ball can’t go out of shape after 10 overs and then be replaced with a 35 overs ball.
Tounge and Overton have bowled some absolute shite today but England find themselves in a great position, finally a pitch offering something for the bowlers to work with.
Meh, It’s not like England have never been given a more favorable ball on day 5 of the fifth test of a series at the Oval, when their greatest all time bowler and his shit bloke mate were both about to retire.
Looked like a crap decision that… but he didn’t get much of a reprieve…
Wtf you on about now?
Keep on with those ramblings and we might have to up your medication.
That’s Woakes gone then
I don’t think this is the worst score for India to be honest
Weird how they bowled until that time on a gloomy day to make up for lost time but never bother to carry on in better weather when they are loads of overs short.
Woakes injury will be a problem for England in the second innings. Could well be his last test match as well which is a shame.
Cleaned them up nicely today, Atkinson has been brilliant again.
I dont keep up with this thread so apologies if its already been discussed, but what was the supposed controversy over the last test. I have seen lots of aussies (?) sledging England for acting like cunts, but cannot find any report from the BBC about the test that gets even close to addressing a supposed issue.
Storm in a teacup. Stokes (England captain), upon seeing that game is peterin out to a draw, attempted to give his bowlers a rest by offering India an early decoration. Problem was that one of the Indian batsmen was near his century, so they declined. The English team was vexed as it was only going to be either an England win or a draw given there was no time left and India were wayyyy behind in the game. On the other hand it wasn’t the many more overs and India duly took the offer as soon as the century was scored.
Aussies should shut the fuck up about any semblance of sportsmanship. Rolling eyes really hard here
Stokes offered to shake hands for the draw with an hour still to play when it was clear no result was possible, India decided to play on so their two batters could get their centuries first. England stopped using their frontline bowlers and sent down a bunch of part timer dross from anyone who fancied a go and brought the fielders in so they could get easy boundaries.
So is the fuss that Stokes should have respected the century push and not even offered it until after those milestones, or in our response to India declining?
You can offer a draw, doesn’t mean it will be accepted.
I fully accept it looks churlish from the outside but Stokes and the frontline bowlers had bowled themselves into the ground on a flat track trying to get a victory. Stokes actually injured himself in his efforts.
Trust me, given the same situation, with Cummins hobbling, the Aussies would have acted exactly the same way.
Both. How dare we be so petty as to not let the poor Indian batsmen pad their stats.
And then how dare we act all stroppy when the Indians “rightly” refused the draw offer.
To be fair, an undercurrent appeared to be aussies knowing they are cunts and so accepting they’d do it, but getting wound up at England always acting like they are above such self-serving stuff and gamesmanship
