Dunno South Africa aren’t holding back.
It’s a tad dull though. Kinda baseball dull.
Baseball is far better than this..
That aged well.
They should have played more tests
Put the mockers on them.
should have learned by now. The @Sithbare methodology of predicting a loss every game is definitely the way to go.
I think it’s the same for NZ also. The three countries who really seem to be prioritizing tests are India, England and Australia. None of the other countries are doing that. Which is a pity as NZ and SA do have good teams. They might do well in tests in the limited chances that they do get but are always at risk of going down the windies or the pakistan way.
They are the only countries that can afford test cricket. In India, it is probably more of a vanity thing than an endeavor toward sustainability.
Test cricket isn’t as money making as other forms of cricket. It’s never sustainable (across any countries)
I don’t know if the term vanity can be used though. But the three boards do seem to have made it a priority.
That is the thing I guess I wanted to articulate - Test cricket does not bring in the buck for bang the other formats do. Countries with smaller war chests cannot fund a test program that can compete with the ones with more money. Test cricket will peter out - sadly.
If (probably once) India looses it infatuation with it, it will wither away.
I tend to think the population in India is so much that there always is going to be a sizable population who will care about test cricket.
But guess it depends on how the younger population looks at the game now.
Which is fine but if no one want to pay for it, then that will be that.
The blast was terribly set up, the best team by far were cobbled by a T20 test that got rained off.
Think Ireland might be about 100 short
A bit misleading when only one of them really hits those speeds regularly and he’s the most injury prone of the lot.
Surprised at Jacks inclusion, otherwise pretty much as expected. Lions are over there at the same time so those on the fringes people are upset about missing out wont be too far away from being picked if needed.
Speed is overrated. The ability to bowl the effort ball is much more important as is the ability to get the ball to move off the pitch.
Yup, I think Rob Key knows there isn’t enough genuine quality (a prime Anderson and Broad) in this bowling squad (maybe Archer but he hasn’t demonstrated it for a complete test series). So he thought “let me do the next best thing”.
Yeah it’s actually only Wood. Even Archer doesn’t always bowl 90+.
