Yes, however the breakaway situation created by that was interesting. Of course we and the media want the top 10 battle but with that we probably wouldn’t have had that great Ventoux ride by W Van Aert and a few others (as I said before I was more than interested by what some French tiders were trying).
I always miss the 1st week and did again this year (there’s only the TT that divides the riders) however I missed Cavendish and all the crash nonsense because of it and it took me a while to realise what was going on.

Not strictly true. He used a bot to unlock the Tron bike on Zwift. He then used that bike in the nationals and was stripped of his title when they found out even though the e-racing rules were written after he’d had the bike unlocked. He didn’t use a bot in competition.

Pretty interesting YouTube channel though. Quite often does challenges like the one posted.

Fair enough then!

A little, and they were certainly great rides by those riders but when you’re in the high mountains and the field is whittled down to a small group of riders that all should be GC contenders, which we saw on a few occasions it was a nothing battle between them Carapaz and Vinegaard basically battling for 2nd and 3rd with Pogacar just there to say “fuck off”, like swatting flies. The time trial was a nothing event to be honest. Great for Van Aert but as far as the race overall, nowt.

I honestly feel robbed!!! Cycling News agrees with me I think.

One thing that might play out more in future tours is that UAE out played Ineos in this Tour. They basically let Ineos control the race and let them burn themselves out rather than the other way round which is what they’ve been doing for years including their time as Sky. And of course a direct copy of what US Postal / Discovery used to do. I think Ineos have a some serious thinking to do on how they set themselves up going forward.

Just a side note, I found the podium interesting. Vinegaard looks really small and lean, super lean, malnourished. Carapaz has that typical South American physique, small and lean, built for climbing, but not for time trialing while Pogacar is tall but nowhere near as lean in appearance. Obviously the power etc. is there but the contrast in body shapes caught my eye immediately.

Watched the men’s road race: Carapaz takes it solo with the two strongest racers in the race Wout and Pog getting silver and bronze after both doing most of the work. Thought the Belgian team shouldn’t have burnt matches so early and perhaps they may have been able to help Wout tow back Carapaz. Pog didn’t get much help from Rog and the rest really disappointed. Great one for Carapaz’s palmares which really makes him look a better rider than he is IMO.

I need to start watching the Vuelta. 2 crazy stages over the last 2 days.

Roglic wins today. Give him his due, he wins stages.

And Primož goes bang.

Shut the gate, this one is over.

It’s a Richie Benaud back to Mas in second.

Emm… They were sitting up and not racing. Sounds like the boy is already a fairly trained (and talented) cyclist and lovely for him that he gets to meet his heroes - one of the great things about the sport is how accessible it still is for fans

Throw the book at the driver. The idiot was rolling coal and spewing black smoke at the cyclist, went out of control and hit the cyclists.

Fucking hell.

That is awful.

Life sentence for that cunt imo

Thank fuck noone was killed.

I’ve ridden extensively in Oz, the UK and Italy and a little bit in Spain.

The difference between Australia and Europe for a cyclist on the road is chalk and cheese. From the looks of it, this is something else the Aussies have in common with the States.

They’re called hoons and utes in Australia…what I guess they call rednecks and their trucks in the US.

It’s definitely something I’ve thought might be happening to me on numerous times, though I find in the uk it’s beamers mercs and hgvs that tend to give the worse overtakes

Getting home from a ride in Australia when you didn’t get abused was rare. Really haven’t missed that here.

I probably get that once or twice a month, recently the issue that’s been pissing me off while riding is cars leaving full beams on while they pass me causing temporary blindness
