I didn’t see anything wrong with Jonas’ body language. In fact his shoulders were rolling less than Pogacar’s. Ok he set up on dancers more but that’s just a style thing there wasn’t any rocking.
Van Aert started a breakaway right off the bet but was caught. Probably wants the green jersey points. Again used up energies. Then again. hindsight is 20/20.
Same, I avoid this thread like the plague until I’ve caught up. I like to say I caught up when watching the Tour.
Great day again. Jumbo tactics brilliant and what a machine van Aert is. I wonder if he’ll transition to a GC contender?
Vingegaard thoroughly deserved win.
Last word on Pog. I wonder if he’ll revise his tactics a little now? He has a true challenger now and can’t afford the constant attacking. It adds up and its cost him the overall race.
Every tactics (non-traditional when compared with US Postal, Sky, etc IMHO) that Jumbo-Visma deployed in this tour have turned to gold. They have screwed the final sprint outcome today for the big sprinters. 1km to go, Peloton caught up to the breakaway, Laporte jumped, pulled ahead and away from the rest. Jumbo totally pissed off the sprinter teams.
Edit
I stand corrected. Apparently last km attack by Laporte was not planned but by instinct.
I certainly hope not. The commentators talked about what a great tour this has been, and a big reason for that has been his aggressive and unpredictable style.
I know, Fair play to him he even had a little dig today. Thing is his over attacking probably cost him the Tour unless that day in the Alps was down to a lack of food.
Still great to see 2 people really go hammer and tongs at each other
Down hill narrow road section of the TT, Vingegaard slipped just a little bit and not being able to take the corner properly. He almost slide into the edge into the grass/gravel/side of the mountain and lost it all! Whew.
He still finished ahead of Pogacar by a lot. Van Aert won the TT, Vingegaard gained more time.
