Based on the graphic novel by the once great Alan Moore

Who had nothing whatsoever to do with the film, Even the credits say “Based on a graphic novel” with. absolutely no reference to him. He HATED it.

Anyone thinking of of foing to see Nosferatu, just go.
Don’t listen to @StanSB advice.
Nosferatu is a beautiful, athmospheric film. Well worth seeing.

I did wonder, drinker was all over it.

Back In Action on Netflix.

The usual vacuous action/comedy film. Harmless fun but hardly original or particularly interesting.

I would have given it 6/10, but they somehow think the Thames Barrier keeps out the Atlantic Ocean, when it’s actually the North Sea, so they’re losing a point for that.

5/10

I recently watched Cocaine Bear (Netflix)… Didn’t realise it had so many laugh out loud moments… Apart from the film running out of steam after the hour mark, I must say, it was worth the time

Watched Kraven, worse than rhino shit.

I watched Wild Robot last night. It is outrageously sentimental, but completely delightful.

Watched A real pain last night, worth a go on a rainy weekend, Kieran Culkin was pretty decent in it.

Just finished the book with my daughter and we’re looking forward to the movie :+1:

Absolutely loved A Complete Unknown. Have seen mixed reviews but I thought it was an incredible performance from Chalamet. Played and sang 40 Dylan songs which were all filmed live. Ed Norton is a total doppelgänger for Pete Seegers also

I watched Civil War, the A24 film, on Max. Saw a tonne of very negative reception to the film so wasn’t sure how it was going to go - I was surprised to find that I thought it was good! Sure some of the criticism about it pulling its punches when it comes to making a political statement are, I guess, fair (it can be read as left or right wing depending on your own perceptions - eg. “The Western Forces” are an allegiance between California and Texas. “Central” includes Florida all the way to Colorado etc. So they made a clear decision to seperate the film from real life.

Must be said a lot of complaints I saw came from people complaining that Conservatives are being attacked by woke Hollywood, which is a bit of self-reporting I feel.

Mostly I was impressed with the film’s atmosphere and the transposing of very common images from civil wars in places like Yugoslavia into modern America. It’s much better than most reviews say.

I watched it on Prime.

Found it flimsy, lightweight and extremely boring.

Yeah. I felt the same after having seen the criticism prior to watching the film. My take was a lot of the criticisms from the left were people simply wanting him to have made a different film than the one he wanted to make. It felt like a lot on the left just wanted to be hit over the head that “this guy is Trump”, which was pretty clearly indicated, but was unnecessary to elaborate on for the story he wanted to tell.

I feel a lot of the criticism of film and tv in the SM era is like this.

Yes, that was my take on it. It was trying to transpose things that seem foreign and far away into a familiar environment. It’s a bit like how HG Wells commented on colonialism in writing War of the Worlds.

So this evening I’ve been on puppy watch and theres no early gym tomorrow so i decided to watch a film for a change.

Quick look on Prime and Burnt came up. Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller lead a pretty strong cast.

It’s basically Ratatouille with grown up themes. I found it ok. An easy watch, all good stuff etc.

Try ‘Boiling Point’ for kitchen fun.

I don’t get the point of these Disney movies anymore. Watched Mufasa last night. The plot, the music, voice acting etc. are all bad. Music blatantly tried to be 1-1 with the original Lion King but just so so bad. And it is n’t even cute.

Damn even my 9 yo niece was bored.
