It includes one of my favourite scenes…I forget what exactly is happening, but it’s a Klan rally of sorts. At the peak of the vitriol the camera focuses in on the face of an oblivious toddler being held in their parent’s arms. To me it was a statement on lost the innocence, of how people are inculcated into such hate.

Not politically correct, but I’m not sure why the comment was made. There were three foreign films in the original list and in my own list, just from the last two decades, I mentioned three foreign language films. A fourth movie which while has english speaking characters was filmed entirely in New Zealand and therefore under the ‘World Cinema’ umbrella and you could arguably add a fifth to my list if you count the Comanche dub of Prey.

Anyway this past week I’ve got through Lightyear and Prey.
Lightyear for me was a bomb. Awful. If you build a character in other movies that has created so much momentum why the hell dismantle it and do something completely different with it. Everything good about the Buzz from the Toy Story movies has gone.
Prey however is good. Still not the original but that had the advantage of the mystery of the monster etc. Not sure I can believe the orange flower thing but otherwise a good story done quite well. Worth noting the scenery and colour palettes in this are fantastic again. I’ll revisit this because of that.
Can’t beat a good favourite movie list.

Watched Revolutionary Road for the first time last night. Wife’s pick and wasn’t expecting much, but found it moving and disturbing. Brilliant acting. Don’t care what anyone says, DiCaprio is top drawer

We watched Moonfall. It wasn’t great. I know every single main actor in it can actually act, but it really seems like they were all phoning it in. Few too many ideas involved as well. All would have made for good films, but not all in the same film.
Argh, I saw that film and thought that could be tonights effort. Not sure now.
