At least he’s still got his girlfriend…Imagine if she were to dump him on Christmas Eve.
Yeah, the only thing that he’s left with is being the best looking man on Earth!
Just watched The Menu. A good film with a strong cast. Nicholas Hoult was the stand out for me.
This Mike Flanagan fan did not.
In fact for me it’s the entire opposite of what he manages to do with horror. The Haunting of Hill House, Turn of the Screw and The Midnight Club are all fairly short and straightforward stories, with little more too them than people died and then were ghosts.
The adaptations manage to be scary or unsettling while also exploring many aspects of death, grief, mortality, morality, love and life. Every show has something more to say than most horrors.
Barbarian in the end was little more than people making stupid decisions while some jump scares and gross out moments happened. That’s fine if that’s all you want; I love 80s slasher films and that’s what I expect from them, but I was expecting more from this film based on the internet hype it’s been getting.
Me too. Was a little underwhelmed and disappointed after watching.
The hype had me believe all sorts and it starts out really well and wasn’t sure which way it was going.
Then it turned rather predictable and had an almost woke moral of the tale.
Worth a watch but don’t believe the hype.
For the Warhammer fans…it’s happening (probably!)!!
Games Workshop have agreed a deal with Amazon for the latter to develop tv shows and movies using Games Workshop intellectual property. They are now in discussions to agree a deal on what will actually be made.
cross post with tv shows!
One my best mates texted me earlier this morning to tell me that and also mentioned that Henry Cavill has something to do with it. If Bolt Thrower isn’t on the soundtrack, I riot!
It now makes me wonder whether Cavill leaving Witcher and Superman was as a result of this deal or totally unrelated?
No idea about Witcher, but he was due to carry on as Superman untill Gunn was brought in to run DC studeos
Yes, the implication yesterday was that it was a decision by Gunn to reboot Superman, but this Warhammer news would have been developing in the background but perhaps only more recently so I wonder if Gunn’s decision was based on a possible lack of availability of Cavill.
The witcher decision was based on Cavill stepping down from it and there were two possible reasons at the time - Cavill upset with the direction of the show as he is a massive fan of the books/ video game and secondly with the Superman and other movies coming along he may have had less time to work on it. Again, if he knew this deal with Amazon/ Games Workshop was in the offing, it may have been another factor in him going. Presumably Amazon will want to build the franchise initially around him so he may have more than one Amazon project to commit to?.
That is possible.
If I have my dates and timeline correct, I think Gunn deciding to replace Cavill as Superman was made almost as soon as he took over, so I think he had the plan to reboot Superman before taking over. It is also noticable that Cavill said on twitter about 2-3 months before all of this that he would continue on as Superman.
With the speed that Gunn took to decide to get rid of Cavill, I am not sure he would have had the time to look into potential conflicts over filming schedules and how the 2 roles might cash.
I watched That Man From Rio with Jean Paul Belmondo. Made in 1964. It was filmed largely in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. Some very cool scenes filmed in Brasília, which was at that moment just beginning to be carved out of the interior forests. Not much of a film otherwise, standard action fair. But worth the watch for the history.
He left The Witcher because he (as a fan of the source material) was unhappy with the direction the show was taking.
Yes, i said as much earlier - but if you knew that another project you were a fan of was getting a green light it might make that decision somewhat easier?
One of his best films that seem to get missed a lot is the replacements, a comedy sports film based on anerican football. Not one person mentioned it (unless i missed it) but ive probably rewatched that even more than the matrix or john wick
Just watching Life after having a sunday roast (very nice thanks for asking), and I’ve had to pause it 40mins in to throw up. Physical body fluid came out my mouth.
Would very much advise against doing this.
Anyway onto watching the rest of the film……
Time for a Christmas film
Don’t let the kids watch it
Coffee & Kareem has to be the worst film on Netflix. What an annoying little cunt that kid is.
Inside man on the other hand, brilliantly crafted. The tactical battles kept on coming. Surely 1 of the best bank heist movies ever?
