£18 for a ticket at Odeon these days, blimey! Suppose this is what you pay your well earned hard money to watch, 2-3hrs of non-stop filth although I still find it hard to understand everything Vin Diesel says with that deep voice of is. Momoa playing the clown villain suited him.
In any case, I am also of the opinion, why skin color of the actors would even matter. It should not have mattered then, it should not have mattered now. Its unfortunate that even if she did well, there will always be people who wants to make the issue a skin colored one. And I say it for both sides again. I really don’t care whether James Bond is black or white or Asian or Mexican or whatever. I don’t care that there are no Asians in Friends. I don’t care that Crazy Rich Asians do not have Indians or Middle Easterns in it. These are movies and I watch it for entertainment and any actors who can do that are good actors.
They own 2/3 of it, and Comcast own the other 1/3. There is a deal in which, starting early next year, Comcast can force disney to buy the remaining share from them, which is estimated would cost them $9b. But its complex and really no one know what is going to happen with it. It’s hardly an albatross though. Acquiring full control and using it as their defacto parent streaming app, from which all their various services that are currently split across different apps could accessed (for a fee) via embedded widgets is seen by most analysts as the obvious direction for implementing Iger’s strategy.
They already paid $81b for Fox, which is the studio from which most of the Hulu content comes from. Iger has been adamant that its content, nor that other other studios under their umbrella like searchlight, is not aligned with the family branding of Disney and so cannot go on the Disney+ app. Going all in on Hulu largely solves that problem.
