The Liverpool Guide Thread

You should be able to get one at Chester Station. I think these are now on the Metro-card:

TBH, You would be best to check with someone living on Merseyside. I just have a card that is updated when I need to travel there.

So, this is the Merseyside equivalent to London oyster cards which go out to zone 6 in Surrey.

This is great.

If you are starting at Allerton Rd @Maria - Yes Mossley Hill Station is close enough to walk there from (5mins) or go to South Parkway and a 20min walk will take you to Allerton Maze (start of the parade)… The bus travels at a slow enough pace to follow alongside for a mile or ten, so if that suits …
The bus travels along Queens Drive… loads of main artery bus routes from there (QD) into town…
Remember though… QD will likely be ram jam packed about ten people deep from the roadside across the wide pavements and grass verge - all part of the fun :0)

Thanks @sandsoftime.
This is great. I have been to Mossley Hill, from my last visit. I hope to learn my way around the merseyside stations and buses transport map.

I am thinking of investing a Metrocard and topping it up whenever i go to Liverpool. It goes to Chester as well.
(thanks @RedWhippet )

I don’t want to fall off
Can you imagine me flat on my face on tv, no way.

I have fear of heights. Then I was 6’3 before I started shrinking. :slightly_smiling_face:
So I wouldn’t need to get on anyone’s shoulders.

I think i have shrunk by 1 inch.

Keep active and build your muscles :flexed_biceps:. I’ve bought an exercise bike so I can keep my back strong without putting stress on my knees and feet that walking does. Still walk when possible just have the option of resting the joints when necessary.

I am thinking of getting an exercise machine because in the winter, i hate going out, so can’t always walk . Not sure whether to get an exercise bike, cross trainer or walking mill.

Which do you suggest?

I take vitamins daily and vitamin D plus omega 3 oils capsule.

Exercise bike or cross trainer the one your most comfortable with keeping in mind you should keep your back straight (so a training bike isn’t what your looking for it must be an exercise bike with handles that can be height adjusted). Go to a store and try them out.
If you know a physio ask them for their advise.
I previledge the bike as I have a knee problem that can cause a foot problem. The bike means I can circumnavigate these problems, even if the knee (mƩdial ligament) is playing up I can manage the bike.
If your really adventurous there’s rowing machines.
Don’t forget stretching exercises before and after. My physio has me standing on one leg whilst stretching the other which was great when I started as it strengthened the whole leg and lower back.

Like you it’s the winter that’s the big problem it’s cold enough in the house. I used to cycle every morning but just can not imagine that now in the winter. Cold isn’t good for joints.

@Maria

By this I mean if your main exercise is bike get the bike if it’s walking/jogging get the cross trainer. The choice really is about suitability and habits.

I for example would be fine with either as I have done a lot of both and as said went with the bike to protect joints and also because I have a recent back injury that might complain if It started swinging my arms and pivoting at the hips. I walk a bit like a penguin :penguin: at the moment.

My nephew is currently in Liverpool, on his way to catch a ferry to Ireland.

Bought tickets for the Friday part of the Red Weekender.

If someone else is there, let me know.

If all things go to plan until then, I should be in Liverpool from Friday until Tuesday.

Hi @Zoran,
I am based in Chester from Saturday to Tuesday, but will be taking the train to Liverpool every day.

Maybe we could meet up briefly for a drink in between the Redweekend events. My friend is coming with me, she is a massive Red supporter, she was lucky she got the last room in the same hotel as me.

I am religiously studying the Merseyrail map.
I worked out, there is a direct train to
James Street and Lime Street. The train takes me from Chester via Birkenhead way. The other way is more complicated, past Frodsham/Runcorn and a couple of changes.

Is James Street near the Albert Docks or The Strand?

Edited: removed map, its too blurry to see the names of the stations.

Further edited: sorry, posted in the wrong thread, the cars/automobiles onešŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Very close to both. Few hundred yards..:slightly_smiling_face:
