The Manchester United Thread: That's It. That's the Joke (Part 1)

Very similar to that ye.

No guarantee of this. The squad is loaded with talent but is unbalanced as fuck. A new manager will likely want to replace the entire midfield and probably let Cavani and Ronaldo go. No guarantee that he’ll want to build the squad around Bruno, as I’m not sure Bruno really works in a system that emphasizes passing patterns and pressing, he’s a good player because of his individualism.

Any new manager will want to bring in their players to implement their system, could take a few seasons and the United board might not want to invest another half a bil.

Agree, there are never any guarantees in football.

But if they get the right manager in, that can maximise what they have, which is an abundance of talent, they would be dangerous. Especially if they do get to put their stamp on the team.

Ideally, if they sack Ole, they bring in Big Sam - that would guarantee mediocrity.

Won’t happen until they miss top four.

Are we prepared for that fact that Rafa’s mob is waiting in the wings, ready to pounce??

I doubt they are they ones to be worried about. Newcastle will knock them down a peg or 2 before they get into top 4

FIFY.

Their defence and midfield are shite, unless De Gea and Pogba are on going days. And those don’t come around very often (although, to be fair, DDG has been solid this season).

Varane off injured tonight for France, so likely to be Lindelof and Bailly/Jones for them going into the nasty run of fixtures they’ve got. Yikes.

Speaking of the Caf…

Phil fecking Jones to the rescue.

We’re as much all over the place with Varane, as we were without him, so what’s the difference?

Will be without Varane for several weeks but good for them they won’t have to play Maguire because he is also still injured.

Everyone gets injuries, no excuses, you just have to cope, blah blah blah…

Amirite??

Nah Gary Neville told us how much of the Maguire injury was a blow to them last season after losing him for a week.

It’s different with them. So Varane has his injury as was suggested. They better hope DeGea continues this purple patch.

Waiting for the pundit sympathy for United after losing one defender for a period while those same pundits just thought we were crap last year.

I hope everyone in the world sympathises with United. Keep Ole in the job for as long as possible. Whatever excuses are needed.

Its funny how much the narrative on Ole flip flops.

On one hand, he’s got the squad available and should be winning now - on the other hand, they slag off his midfield. Then, with Ronaldo in camp, they have to win everything, but very quickly it’s “oh wait, he’s 36, need to take care of him”, then when he’s not played it’s all on Ole.

Basically, the narrative is much like Ole’s management. You never know which way its going to go, but you know it won’t result in trophies, and more likely to result in a chance to laugh.
