This is what happens when they’ve been so mediocre for so long that criticizing the football becomes boring and passe. FYI, he might consider changing the glasses, too. Those look like $5 drug store readers. Clearly, his wife doesn’t want him leaving the house looking too debonair.

Oddly enough, they’ve still managed 2 points per match in his PL tenure, mainly because they found a way to scrape by against the dross. Two points/match in Carrick’s two matches, also, so they’ve actually still moved up the table a bit since Ole left. Yet the overall impression remains…

Rangnick says they started with a 4-2-3-1, with Cavani very deep almost like more of a #10/midfielder than a second striker/striker. Probably had a specific marking task to do on Neves (and Ronaldo on Coady), which Lage also confirmed. Of course, you don’t want Cavani so deep. And then added that the spaces were out on the sides for Wolves’ wing backs, even with United last night not playing 4-2-2-2.

If you’re gonna play both Ronaldo and Cavani at this stage in their careers, then surely you’re better off allowing them to operate like a 1990s style strike partnership?
You’d want them to get in the box as much as possible. Anyway, makes for a fun result.
