The Manchester United Thread: That's It. That's the Joke (Part 1)

But if Utd recognise that their infrastructure was at fault before, are they likely to interfere as much as at those two clubs?

It’s relatively easy for Tuchel or any incoming coach at United now I guess. The expectations for United have gone so low that all the fans are expecting is a mass clearout which in itself gives them a long rope. I don’t think he’ll be in any pressure to win tournaments etc for 2 years at the very least.

One of the first things Jurgen did when he joined Liverpool was he asked for time. If the expectations are set at the beginning itself and are realistic , Then the fanbase will give more leeway to the incoming manager. If it’s someone like Jose who declares at the outset that he’s there to win trophies etc, the rope just gets way more shorter

But have they really? Do they really have a coherent plan to address it, and one they are willing to commit to - with the accompanying risk of failure? Or will they revert to top-down management when the first signs of a test emerge?

Isn’t part of the problem at Utd though that there is little evidence of any top down management? We just see people in jobs without having a clue what they are supposed to be doing.

Top-down management is not necessarily a bad thing, but it appears that at ManU they have systematically claimed to have delegated the squad-building problem to a manager, then people further up the hierarchy have happily taken control, viz. the Ronaldo signing. I doubt Solskjaer was against it, but it clearly wasn’t his initiative.

Tuchel may not be perfect (nobody is), but rewind it to when Chelsea hired him, there was a lot more skepticism than how well he’s done since then. Of course, it’s not a long time also. You have to give it to him that he’s one of the better coaches out there right now. Regardless if he’s a difficult man sometimes or not someone for the long term. We don’t know that yet. At a certain place he might be. Not saying it will be United, because they have more things to get right.

This discussion reminds me of how the Toronto Maple Leafs was run under Harold Ballard between the 80s and 90s. The suckers I mean us fans kept on paying for the outrageous ticket price and crappy food inside the Maple Leafs Garden, while team continued to under perform.

Yes, because this is a new infrastructure that wasnt in place to fuck up stuff for the other managers.

The video posted contradicts this statement.

Alternative statement.

After the game I had a confrontation with a pathetic manbaby who had purposely stayed behind after the final whistle to abuse players who failed to allow him to live vicariously through their achievements. I called him a cunt and showed him my middle finger. I won’t be apologising, because he was in fact a cunt, and getting the finger was the very least he deserved.

A bit of honesty in football. It’s all we want.

Considering they threw a load of crap at Simeone as he ran to the dressing room the only people who should feel the need to apologise are those fans.

Standard football fans crying when a player mirrors their actions. Most of the men in that video are old enough to be his dad for fucks sake.

Yep agreed. Sure Rashford should have ignored it but he has probably done that 99.9% of the time. One rude gesture following baiting a player that will be feeling the pressure to up his performance is hardly a crime. To be honest, I wish that shit club had supported him better and released a statement saying something to that effect and then Rashford could just issue a short apology without the need for excuses.
In comparison to what that cunt Foden did when his deplorable mother unnecessarily escalated a situation and tried to fight stupid fans baiting them, it doesn’t even rate. Of course citeh haven’t been examined for having such properly cuntish players. Maybe the doper could be asked about that at his next presser?
