Sancho will be a success though (For united standards) , He might have turned out to be much better had he joined us but it’s his loss.
1.5 seasons is my bet. They’ll give him one season and then the wheels inevitably start coming off when they realize they are in the europa league and can’t get UCL level players during his first season. That is if they manage to get europa.
Harry Kane, Tottenham and England striker, and his international team-mate, Declan Rice, the West Ham defensive midfielder, are among the most ambitious and costly targets on United’s radar and there is an acceptance at the club that either deal could be very difficult to do. John McGinn, the Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder, is another player of interest to United.
United tried and failed to sign Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City before the England midfielder instead opted to join Borussia Dortmund in 2020. But while United remain huge admirers of Bellingham, there is little expectation that Dortmund would be prepared to let him and striker Erling Haaland - a target for Manchester City and Real Madrid - leave in the summer unless an outlandish offer forced them into a decision over the player.
Ten Hag will have ideas of his own and it is possible he could look to take one of his Ajax players with him, although Bayern Munich are in pole position to sign the 19-year-old Ajax holding midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and are among a number of clubs interested in the right back Noussair Mazraoui.
Anthony, the highly rated right-sided Brazil forward, 22, is attracting interest from Premier League clubs and is greatly admired by Ten Hag although Ajax are hoping to keep him for another season
United are keeping an open mind and accept the situation is fluid and unexpected opportunities could also present themselves as the summer nears. There is, for example, still uncertainty at this stage about how the situation at Chelsea will unfold and what will happen under prospective new owners there.
It doesn’t say much. Ten Hag has given a detailed evaluation of the playing staff and identified where they need to improve and earmarked players for that, some of which include players currently at Ajax. The reservations are allegedly lack of personality and an overall skepticism about adapting from the Dutch league.
Utd don’t sack managers. He’ll be fine.
This is why they should go for Rodgers. an abundance of outstanding personality and Prem proven.
I guess they better sign Benteke as well then…
Rodgers lost any chance of getting a bigger job when he threw his players under the bus.
Wash n Go will sort that
Not sure Ten Hag will be needing any ‘wash n go’ with the bald eagle image he portrays :0)
Goldbridge will have to change his sponser eh
How many defensive midfielders do they need
They can’t find a good one…
One for every passenger…so they are still in the market.
Ajax are known for their coaching, at all levels. If ETH has time to implement that, he could be a success. I think in the first instance he will buy some players so they get a short term boost. They are such a shambles that even going for top four next season will be an improvement, and I’m pretty sure they will give him Solksjaer levels of patience.
I’m going with the assumption that Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea will be stronger than Man Utd next season. Will Conte start to sort Spurs out? Will Arsenal kick on? It’s one thing having a decent young team start to rise, but real substance at the sharp end of the Prem is something else again. Man Utd will be wanting to get into that top four and try to kick on from there.
Here’s hoping they continue to fail.
And if Ralf is staying on and given any sort of influence then perhaps someone like ETH will benefit from that (I don’t know much about him but assume that there will be some cross over in approach between them both).
He’s not staying on, in the traditional sense. He’ll be a consultant who apparently is only getting paid for 6 days a month. I doubt he’ll have any meaningful influence on the day to day stuff.
Not day to day stuff, but will be paid to ensure the smoothest most informed transition. One of the biggest issues a new manager has coming into a underperforming team is understanding what has been going wrong and what personnel issues need to be addressed. Whether Ralf’s insight is any more valuable than what we can all see form outside I have no idea, but you can see the theoretical advantage of his position providing that continuity.
I can’t see it mattering all that much. So he can tell ETH things like “Maguire is wank”, but the club won’t sell him (nor will anyone buy him) so it’s fairly moot.
If the club want to pay me a consultancy fee I can tell him Maguire, plus a few others, are wank.
They have a fuckload of wank players who can’t play under Ten Hag’s preferred system (Maguire, Wank-Bissaka, Ronaldo, De Gea, etc), but they can’t get rid because all of them are on stupid contracts that make them completely unsellable. Also, because of the profile and cost of those players, the United brass will insist that Ten Hag find a place for them in the starting xi.
They’re still a complete shitshow who haven’t learned a fucking thing. We don’t need to concern ourselves with them except for banter reasons.
