What does surprise me about Man Utd is bar the Thiago deal they were competing with teams worse off than them, irony is they are competing with Spurs and losing out, that used to be us.
Though in the case of the Thiago deal I think it went:
MU: Hi Bayern can we talk to Thiago
BM: Sure…
MU: Hi Thiago it’s MU here we are wondering if you would be interested in a move to MU? … Hello, Hi … you there?

1999 was bad because they won that treble, good because I was doing GCSEs so I didn’t have to put up with the showing off all that much, plus our exam for the night after they won the CL was postponed
I don`t usually agree with corporal punishment…
But spare the rod and spoil the child comes to mind.
