The TAW are indicating this is due to Klopp getting more control/say in contracts and transfers. So the data guys are being ignored hence leaving.

TAW are taking what Pearce is saying and then making a guess.

Sorry they know little more than we do.

So far bar for the Nunez deal recently, the rest of the other deals has been pretty shit…

not sure if thats good or bad… the model was working just fine except for funding

Just want to say that I’m not calling for this.

I know your post isn’t aimed at me, but I am trying to point out a possible third way, besides spend what we earn, or unethical spending.

The third way is to spend what we are permitted to spend, per FFP.

At present we are some way short of that. One way to spend more on the squad might be if the owners were more willing to put their own money in to cover infrastructure, in the knowledge that their payday would come when they sell up.

It would require a more benevolent owner than FSG, but one who still operates within FFP, and is definitely nowhere near the end of the spectrum marked unethical or worse.

Note:
It appalls me that this is necessary. My preference would be a rules based order, where our solid governance would see us continue to be competitive. We have been competitive to date, and it has been a hell of a ride, but I read FSG putting the club up for sale as a sign that they don’t think they can compete over the long haul in the new age of sports washers.

Just reporting what they’ve said, no idea if it’s true or not. So many different scenarios which could be playing out here.

Basically what I have said carries about the same amount of weight.

Considering what I’ve read about Klopp it sounds a little bollocks to be fair, if it has indeed happened then it’s probably Edwards related.

We’re getting sold, new owners probably want to bring in their own people/model.

That’s my feeling tbh.

Question is, why would anybody with any sense would want to tinker with a well running operation like us? The only thing that is throttling us is funds. It’d be like buying a Jaguar and swapping in an Opel Corsa engine.

It could well be that FSG offered to keep them in a similar role in one of their other businesses.

What other deals?

Well there is only Ward left of the three amigos so to speak.

Graham announced he was leaving earlier in the season.

While you can always make poor decisions in personnel that affect performance, a robust system should be able to withstand people leaving, even good people. It’s not great that there is such an abrupt transition, but this shouldnt be catastrophic by itself. The obvious elephant in the room though is this coming on the back of Gordan stepping back and the potential for change in ownership.

Graham possibly, but it would be difficult to understand Ward following Edwards after having just been promoted to get out of his shadow to then go straight back into it.

I think that’s the key part, any of these recent changes in isolation are all part of the normal bau of business… So many at once will always raise alarm bells.
