And Gapko is a supposedly multifaceted player capable of playing all across the front line who was reportedly earmarked for a central role when we bought him.
Ok, so itās his best position? He excels there? Thatās where Klopp sees him in the future, playing wide left? Pedantic? Much?
In that game Gapko could have gone wide left, Salah in the middle (heās played there more than Harvey has played wide left) and Harvey on the right, his actual positiion.
Thatās your speculation. JĆ¼rgen quite clearly thinks that KeĆÆta is an integral player to our team, because when heās fit, he starts. No sentimentality there.
Oxlade-Chamberlain plays a significant number of minutes when heās not injured as well. Whoās to say that JĆ¼rgen hasnāt had that chat, but there have been no offers forthcoming at all?
Oddly enough, the injuries havenāt occurred that much to the older players, have they? You also ignored my point completely.
Maybe itās just my interpretation of āweirdā but I only consider it weird if they were utterly capricious decisions without any logical reason behind them.
Weāve always done that.
None of those were flippant, you just disagree with them. I disagree a lot with @Semmy on MANY issues, but I donāt think his answers there were very flippant.
Correct, but when we are in such horrid form, waiting for our best players to come back from injury, would it be better to play players in their most famiiliar position? Thatās all Iām saying. Then in a settled team, players can be dropped in to different positions to fill a gap. I mean, I didnāt realise this was such a wild fanciful suggestion.
Preferences are fine and a great avenue for debate. As Redalways says though, acting like there is no logical explanation for Kloppās choices and it defacto being evidence of broken thinking is not.
Ok, thanks for telling me off.
I disagree with everything you said but thatās fine. Itās allowed.
nice. That is actually funny.
But you didnāt answer me though.
I believe he actually said he learned that he should have trusted Phillips and Williams earlier than he did, because they were up to the standard he was looking for?
Ok thanks for telling me how to debate.
Never did I say Klopp has broken thinking. I love Klopp he can stay forever as far as I am concerned. I wonāt be pushed into a situation where I am doubling down so much that it comes across that I am anti Klopp. But as he himself has admitted heās made mistakes in the past. This season I think he has too.
If you think thatās a telling off, I think youāll hate to see what I do to @Semmyā¦
It is allowed, and encouraged. I happen to disagree on the interpretation on some things, and thatās perfectly fine. But I think itās harsh to criticise someoneās decisions as weird just because you donāt agree with them.
Correct. He did say that.
So he made a mistake playing players out of position and admitted it? Is that fair to say? Could it happen again?
Wierd as in strange, unusual not weird as in heās got 2 heads or a crazy madman.
It is often used in a way to characterise a decision as being baseless, so you canāt blame others for reading that into it, even if that might not have been your intentionā¦
Sorry, Iām just having a chat on the internet with some guys about football tactics and decisions. I donāt time to get my dictionary out to see if a word used in everyday language might be so polemic.
I think youāll find that his meaning was more that he would rather not weaken other positions if he could avoid it. The main problem with playing Fabinho and Henderson in defence was that they were then not available in midfield, which resulted in a knock-on effect. He did not need to do so if he had believed that Phillips and Williams were ready.
In this case however, we have pretty much the opposite problem. Our injury absence issues are now more severe in our forward line than our midfield line. Itās not unreasonable to use Elliott there. NĆŗƱez, as others have noted, has played wide forward quite a fair bit in the past, and if we assume the ManĆ©, Firmino, and Salah model of our forwards is still the same, he shares a lot more in common with ManĆ© than Firmino. In contrast, Gakpoās strengths are more similar to Firmino.
In any case, it wouldnāt be the first time JĆ¼rgen has decided to use a new signing in a way rather different from how they have played before. Wijnaldum almost exclusively played attacking midfield or on the wings before joining us.
Thatās missing the point. Weāre all just having a chat here, but you canāt blame others if they interpret what you say differently from what you intended. Itās the same on here as out there in the physical world. The same whether in the pub or in a speech on national TV.
You used that phrasing, then got upset and surprised when others started talking about it. You canāt blame others for that.
Laughable, didnāt get upset at all.
If you, Semmy, Redfanman, Limescouse all agree with all of Kloppās decisions, thatās fine. I just canāt be bothered arguing semantics. Case in point your interpretation of Henderson and Fab being played in defence. I call it being played out of position you want to complicate it into something more.
They are 16 pts ahead of us, just over half a season played.
I wish our regression this season was just as bad as theirs.
Of course we have had injuries, no one disputes that.
