The Owners - FSG

Maybe, but in recent years we have had a squad significantly bigger than that meaning it has not nor should it be a case moving forward of 1 out requiring 1 coming in.

One way or the other
this sunmer’s business will clarify alot of doubts towards FSG .

It will clearly state if they continue to provide the right tools to the manager or boss will remain handicapped as always, in the ever evolving transfer market.

I understand today every journalist, every ex player or fan is being labelled wrong if you question them. Better rational thing to do is to wait and see how this summer unfolds. Atleast then you can either be with them or without them.

My only worry over the last few months has been that we should maintain some balance somewhere
and not end up in a situation where our beloved manager walks
while we were endulged in ridiculing every criticism that comes the owners way.

Oxlade-Chamberlain got injured early in pre-season, and I think Keita was injured as well? That probably rules out selling them, notwithstanding that both were entering that last year of their deals and players don’t forgo the chance of an inflated signing on fee lightly.

I don’t believe for a second finances would have prevented a move for a £10-15m midfield in the Robertson vein had there been one identified and Klopp had been keen. The biggest problem is that there is no room in the squad.

Do you really think if we had 60-70m to spend last month we wouldn’t have gone out and got a midfielder Klopp wanted?

There wasn’t a midfielder on the market Klopp wanted for 40m, so we signed Gakpo
which was understandable given we had plans for him to be Firmino’s successor in the long run
and maybe this season just to fill in for Jota/Diaz on the left given they were both out for months.

We can’t be carrying a 25 man squad. That’s ridiculous, and it’s the complete antithesis of how Klopp works.

18-21 with it topped out by promising young players is more normal.

Surely, there has to be a logic behind all the incomings and outgoings eh? I wonder does doing Net Spend while taking personnel movement into account will make sense of these transfer movements by LFC and help the fandom infer how much does Klopp actually have to revamp his squad?

hate to break it to ya, but we’re carrying a 25man squad

3GK
10Def
10Mid
7Forwards

take out the youth, you’re still at 25.

I saw AOC go down injured in Singapore with my own eyes and all I felt was a bitter disappointment at the transfer team for not offloading him faster.

Why is it ridiculous?

I’m including young players like Harvey Fabio Calvin and Baj in that 23-25 man squad

Nope.

Firstly I don’t think there is a lot of difference between 40m and 60m as far as FSG are concerned - if the recruitment staff make the case that the player is worth it and will save money in the long term. If there was a player that the club valued at £60m who Klopp really wanted, then that money would have been found.

I’m not buying for a second that FSG would have said we’ll give you £40m for Gakpo as a cherry on top of a stacked forward line but we’re not giving you £60m for a cracking midfielder who would address a huge gaping chasm in the squad.

Except there is a lot of difference between 40 and 60m
ESPECIALLY where FSG are concerned.

we already know that they approved the purchase of Tchouameni in the summer, but the player chose RM.

Not sure why you’re having to even discuss this. These are facts

Turns out John Cross also got the same clickbait sources eh?

It’s amazing isn’t it that these supposed journalists have such a brilliant insight into the heart of our club.

In other news, if I win the lottery tonight, I’m going to Vegas.

Can I come with? :grimacing:

Yes but you’re baby-sitting

No, I really don’t think there is. Signings aren’t limited by what’s in a mythical warchest, they are assessed of value and worth. We’ve literally seen FSG do this loads of times. Alisson and Van Dijk both went for a lot more than FSG wanted to pay. Money was found for Diaz six months earlier because he became available.

I think some fans really think Klopp gets given a chunk of money that sits in a bank account until he spends it.

The problem with the market for midfielders is that in January it went fucking nuts. You had players going for £130m off the back of half a good season. Maybe treble or quadruple what they are actually worth. FSG wouldn’t want any part of that.

But if the right player becomes available at the right price, they will find the money.

Who do you think I’m getting drunk and playing craps with???

No I’m joking Mascot, I’m not 1 for alienating anybody.

In my world, we are one for all and all for one baby.

Flying standard class on the next flight though

And I think that’s too many. The only reason we need to carry this many players is because so many of them are perpetually injured.

Ideally we’d want a few less players, but reliably fit ones.
