So what about 1995 when the self serving Premier league clubs decided to reduce its numbers from 22 to 20 to accommodate the Champions league cash cow.
But as it stands it is.
We were discussing the formation of the PL, I was discussing why it came about.
His rant is more to do with him knowing his Sky sports cash cow could be in jeopardy. The bloke has more faces than a townhall click.
Only if the PL etc. Carry out THEIR threat to kick these clubs out of domestic leagues. Those proposing the super league are proposing an alternative to the CL in EXACTLY the way UEFA themselves did with the CL replacing the European Cup but without UEFA benefitting from the billions it creates.
Iâm on about fans chasing there outrage when it suits. How many Liverpool fans said it was wrong Palace were relegated in 19th just because the Champions League cash cow was coming.
It wonât be though will it because Sky have the deepest pockets and will therefore be front of the queue to televise the new tournament should it actually come to fruition. Letâs see if he resigns in protest if it comes to it.
Not anymore. One of the changes that needs to happen is modernisation of how people can watch football. Amazon and possibly even companies like Netflix will be leading the changes.
Thatâs true I suppose. But even if Amazon won it, theyâll try and poach the top talent around the game too and Neville is undeniably in that bracket.
I really donât think this is about guaranteeing spots for top teams in the top European competition. As it stands that more or less happens anyway and FFP helped towards consolidating that. This is about control over broadcasting rights, not much else imo.
Btw:
This was my first thought.
This was my second thought.
The talk of a breakaway league has been doing the rounds for years. If it does happen I think it will be in large part because of the issues between the domestic leagues and the clubs being left unresolved.
Maybe now we will get a better version of VAR
I donât think it is that straightforward.
Bayern pretty much run the domestic league in Germany, so have less to gain from joining the superleague breakaway early. They qualify comfortably each year, and get the pick of most of the top talent in their own backyard often as low prices.
Dortmund and PSG also were invited to join this ridiculous super league and declined. Good for them.
PSG arenât being saints;

I never said that PSG were, just saying they declined to join.
I am trying not to get too much involved in all the 'football politicsâ threads and I am not sure what to think about all this but
Think if fans were allowed at Anfield there would have been huge protests by fan groups against the owners, right?
I posted this in the original discussion before it was split into a new thread. How does FSG plan to compete financially with these clubs? If the general consensus (even The Boss says) we are not an oil state or owned by a country how does FSG plan to stay competitive?
Arenât those two categories one and the same tho? Not saying FSG specifically, but in general context, your scenario describing two groups, money grabbers generally are penny pinching cunts.
Presumably, the club would expect its revenues to be higher than if it remained within the current structures, while it may not financially compete on the same level as City et al, it should have the money to allow it to continue buying good to great players at decent value. Clubs outside of this tournament could find it harder to reject advances for their players as they are unable to generate similar monies.
