Jazz piano maestro the great Chick Corea has passed away. He was one of the first Jazz guys I got into. Very classy and classically-influenced although heā€™s better known for the easy listening pop Jazz fusion project Return for Ever from the 70s.

ā€˜Battle of Cable streetā€™ was a great song on the only album I bought of theirs. Sad to hear of anyone passing that young (relatively).

Just occasionally someone passes away and itā€™s really hard not to dance with glee. I try to channel my inner Dalai Lama, but man itā€™s difficult!

RIP Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Maybe the last of the ā€˜Beat Generationā€™ has just passed away. Presumably one the less hedonistic ones as he managed 101 years!!!

That was a great line btw. ā€œOn earth as it isnā€™t heavenā€. The problem is from the perspective of the natural world that 44 years ago when this concert took place, on earth it was heavenly in comparison to today.

Alfredo Quintana, 32, Star Handball Player

(ATR) Alfredo Quintana, considered one of the best handball goalkeepers in the world, has died at age 32.

FC Porto, the club he played for in Portugal, announced his death on Friday.

ā€œOur dearest Alfredo Quintana passed away today. Youā€™ll always be remembered as one of ours. A true Dragon. May you Rest In Peace,ā€ the club said on its Twitter account.

On Monday, the Cuban-Portuguese player had suffered a heart attack during training with the club.

The athlete was intubated and put in an induced coma. He was transferred to the SĆ£o JoĆ£o Hospital, after having been in cardiopulmonary arrest for more than 30 minutes, according to the Portuguese press.

Quintana had represented the Portuguese national team since 2014 and was instrumental in leading them to sixth place at Euro 2020 and 10th place at the 2021 World Cup in Egypt, the best finishes in those competitions for the Iberian country.

He made 67 appearances for Portugal.

Quintana arrived in Portugal in 2010 and was the first Cuban to enroll in Portuguese handball under the guidance of director JosĆ© MagalhĆ£es.

He made his debut for FC Porto on March 26, 2011, with which he won six championships, one Portuguese Cup and two Super Cups.
