That was early enough in his career(1991) but probably one where most of my generation will have first seen him.

grew up watching Baresi play for Milan on Ch4 Gazzetta Football Italia,
his brilliance at Milan made Italian football boring for non Milan fans

I just twigged that the beardy bloke leasing the tribute at Shane McGowan’s funeral was Glen. I literally didn’t make the connection until I saw footage of his funeral

Not that long ago either, along with Sinéad Ó Connor and Christy Dignam. All went a bit too early but Glen most of all, he still had a lot he was doing.

It’s hard to conceive of now with how ubiquitous it is, but back in the 90s when I moved to the US electronic dance music was so derided here. His Adagio for Strings I found was one of the most common entry points for people to rethink what it could be

That whole Pieces In A Modern Style album is brilliant, and he didn’t shy away from the more difficult stuff, there is a fantastic interpretation of a John Cage piece.

Wow I had missed this one.
Nims (Nimsdai) Purjah was killed climbing Broadpeak on the 30th July. He was a former Gurkha and then special forces who holds numerous records including climbing on Everest, Lhotse and Makalu in under 48 hours.
There’s a documentary on him called 14 peaks where he climbed all the 8000m peaks in just over 6 months.
Crazy inspirational guy but an avalanche got him in the end. There is a growing concern regarding worsening conditions in the Himalayas now as the planet warms

I just noticed that the actress Cheryl Hall has died:
It mentions her being in Eastenders and The Bill, but she also appeared in two series that I loved.
She was the girlfriend of Wolfie in Citizen Smith, and she appeared in the Doctor Who serial Carnival Of The Monsters, wearing an outfit that would have been over the top in Eurovision.
