Thatâs a big one. Bacharach is one of those writers that defies categorisation. Truly one of the all time greats.
Iâve just read the Guardian obituary and itâs stunning how many classic songs he was responsible for. An exceptional talent and a wonderful life.
Yeah, I was stunned to see he wrote âSay a little prayer!â
There are so many timeless classics which i know, but didnât know they were written by Burt Bacharach. What a genius songwriter he was.
A huge loss to the music world and to us mortals listening to the radio in the kitchen, always a Burt Bacharach song would come up on the playlist and would warm the cockles of your heart.
RIP Burt, you will be sorely missed. #LEGEND
Burt asked Sean Connery to name his favourite composer
Connery replied âSchubertâ
Burt said " Wow, I am flattered"
I didnât get the joke Quicksandâ:woman_facepalming:
Please interpret, thanks.
Say it in Conneryâs slightly lispy accent: 'Itâssh you Burt.".
Oh okay! I get it now!! thanks.
Good one.
I am always the last one who doesnât get these cryptic jokes.
Not at all. I just wait for someone else to ask
Edit: Removed post as suggestedâŚ
Personally I think this would be better in the Funny Pictures & Jokes thread, but that is just my opinion
My middle name is Verlaine. Iâve heard different stories for why - Tom Verlaine, Paul Verlaine, and Jean Genet once wrote anyone named Verlaine is âcursed to be a poetâ. Iâm not sure which is true, but whenever Iâm in Paris, I pretend Verlaine is my family name and people seem to be friendlier towards me.
Anyway, Marquee Moon is a colossus achievement and contribution.
RIP, Maestro.
3 feet high and rising is an iconic/classic hip hop album, one of the best for me,spent my early teens listening to that album.RIP Trugoy.
I saw them at an embarrassingly tiny college gig in the mid 90s in proper fly over country. I dont know who booked them, but it was a bad mismatch, but it didnt affect their performance at all. In the end it was a great night
I dont get the reference to that clip, but itâs probably not far off. I think probably half the crowd were people whoâd never seen a black person and had no idea what to make of it so just kind of stood there horrified all night. And by half them, I mean about 12 people. The other 12 of us were fucking loving it
