RIP Francis. Keep giving the opposition supporters in Heaven attitude
Iâm rather saddened by that. Iâm not religious, but he did seem to be a lonely voice of sanity in an age of selfish stupidity.
38 days in hospital successfully battling double pneumonia ⌠and then ten minutes with Vance. ![]()
Iâm not religious in the slightest, but found this article elucidating:
Itâll be fascinating to see if the next pontiff continues Francisâ relatively progressive agenda or swings back to a more traditional stance. The result of the next papal ballot could go a long way in determining how many millions of people around the world behave and, as a result, is relevant to all of us, not just Catholics.
Exactly my thoughts, what are the odds on Trump, being âGodâ will demand to choose the next one?
May Pope Francis rest in peace. I quite liked him, he was a champion for the poor, vulnerable and marginalised people in society. He came across as a compassionate and progressive Pope and one who would speak his mind about the current atrocities occurring around the world. He wasnât afraid to call out politicians and governments. I hope the conclave select a Pope who is a progressive one.
Yep. The world needs another more like him than some of the conservative options (including Orban supporting, Pell backed scum).
Brian Glanville has passed away aged 93.
There will never be a football writer like him again. Pre internet and social media of course. I always respected him as an erudite and knowledgeable journalist. As a lifelong Arsenal fan I sometimes thought he didnât always give us the praise we were due though.
Just one example of his style.
Ward struck a diagonal ball from the right and Grobbelaar, who usually plunges on such things like a suicide pilot, allowed McAvennie to beat him to it and score again.
Always loved Norm. My condolences to his family and friends.
RIP. I liked the programme back in the day.
I might have a beer tonight and raise a glass and say cheers.
I first witnessed him perform in a Manila pub in 1979.
Finally got a chance to chat with him for an hour 30 years later.
A nice man who said to me he never forget a face.
Sad, especially as it seems like his last year was shite:
He told BBC News in April how, while on holiday in Turkey last year, he felt severe pain in his back and doctors discovered he had an inoperable neurological condition that left him wheelchair-bound.
âI spent a month laid on my back and another four months sitting in bed,â he said. âThey kept me in hospital until February, they found a nodule pushing on my spine and it was a rare neurological condition so itâs not something they can operate on.â
