The R.I.P. thread

Sad, especially as it seems like his last year was shite:

He told BBC News in April how, while on holiday in Turkey last year, he felt severe pain in his back and doctors discovered he had an inoperable neurological condition that left him wheelchair-bound.

“I spent a month laid on my back and another four months sitting in bed,” he said. “They kept me in hospital until February, they found a nodule pushing on my spine and it was a rare neurological condition so it’s not something they can operate on.”

COPD apparently , so he did well to make it to 82. Lived out his last days broke and in a camper van in LA. :frowning:

Amazing he made it that far considering his lifestyle.
I still love the man though.

I had tickets to see him in Germany but it ended up being cancelled due to the pandemic.

I’ll have to make do with the albums. Always his strongest suite anyway.

So much more than their surf and sand reputation. Wilson played a huge role in defining popular music.

I watched a film or a tv series about his life. It was fascinating how he created all the sounds and sad he had alot of personal and health issues. I will forever remember the Beach Boys sound. Every time one of their up tempo songs was played on the radio, it felt the sun was coming out of the radio and brightening up your day.

This was my parent’s favourite song and my favourite too.

As a youngster in the 1890s, I used to drive around in my old Volvo listening to an old beach boys tape including several slightly mangled sped-up tracks - can’t understand why the girls weren’t all over me…?

They were such a brilliant band and so many of their songs are iconic.
