Bias is natural. I suspect in this case it has been targeted and leveraged by external actors.
There is a scenario forming in my head where Coote, having been identified as a weak, arrogant pre-biased easy target, is plied with drink and other stimulants and encouraged by a “friend” to mouth off on camera.
The resulting footage is then used as leverage to convince him to accept bribes in return for acting on his bias in ways that favour the interest of these external parties.
For whatever reason he has not kept to the agreement as well as they would like and the footage has now been released resulting in his career being ruined as threatened.
Perhaps he fears that whole house of cards is about to fall down and has started to push back against the demands, refusing to do anything as blatant as he did before and incriminate himself.
Conveniently the released footage also explains all of his previous indiscretions without the need for any further digging into his motives.
Anyway… always been a fan of espionage novels myself. John le Carre a particular favourite (always felt very feasible that they were reasonably true to life). That’s how I’d write the story if I were holding the pen…
It really isnt that much to ask to have referees that:
Act professional and not slag off those that they work with
Dont take drugs
Are not invited/paid guests to UAE
Referee the game according to the laws rather than their personal feelings.
I might not like United at all, but I could referee the game with integrity. I have too many doubts about too many of our referees. Its a sad state when us giving the benefit of the doubt is at best accepting incompetence.
It’s being posted on another site that the other bloke is Ben Kitt, a former Nottinghamshire CC player, and it was a zoom call Q&A for Gedling Colliery Cricket Club which is in Nottingham. If you google Ben Kitt he certainly looks like the prick in the video.
I’m not buying it Coote has been blackmailed or anything like that, I just think he’s an obnoxious cunt and someone has somehow got footage of the Q&A session.
I laugh at conspiracy theories but it’s quite a timing for the video to be released when Coote should have done the “right” thing by calling a foul by Salah bringing down the last Villa defender but he didn’t so …

Will be clear that Coote won’t be officiating a Liverpool game ever but this is exactly what will happen.

There’s plenty of more objective ways to present your case, such as doing a study of decisions covering a long period of time (such as what Tomkins did with Salah).
