The Referees or The Twelfth Man

And also, do not comment while the investigation is ongoing.

Too easy to use the term conspiracy theories in this instance. Its diminishing the notion that bias or corruption might exist.
The non calling of the foul on Salah on Saturday was beyond mistake or ineptitude.
It was bias, and given what is now proven, it was corrupt. For whatever reason, to pervert the laws of the game is corruption.

Blithely referring to what is in front of us as conspiracy theory is insulting to people who have commented on this for years.
Tompkins, for all his faults is a prophet now.

I think that’s a judgement call though?

As much as I dislike Coote, he has a track record of being shite for many, many teams, not just us. I’m not saying his bias doesn’t add to it, I’m just pointing out that bias or not, he should be nowhere near refereeing anything but a friendly game between amateur sides.

Is it a judgement call that lacks merit or proof?
Look at the video, look at the foul and then try to present a scenario where its just ineptitude?
I don’t buy that.
When we saw Coote was reffing the match, were we a happy that this would be a fair and equitable contest?
I know I wasn’t.

No such thing.
This is the most shocking claim in this entire thread

Just read the last days worth of posts.
Only comment I have is, it was only a matter of time before one of the many corrupt and anti Liverpool bias cunts within that organisation was outed as such.

That’s obviously not enough. For example, imagine him officiating a game of Liverpool’s direct rival for Premier League title and him not awarding a clear penalty against said rival in the closing minutes of the game that would help that rival seal the title by one point. Oh, wait, that’s exactly what happened!

I’m not saying that it lacks merit or proof, I’m saying that your statement makes it sound as though it’s fact.

I was bracing myself for a delightful shitshow, given that Tierney was on VAR too. But odd that we’re focusing so much on Coote and not Tierney.

And considering their average work, I think on the whole I was surprised that they didn’t shaft us when they could have, twice.

In terms of the Salah foul, I assumed at the time that he had played advantage, which I would agree with.

He had actually waved it away, but if Nunez hadn’t scored it would presumably have gone to VAR for a free kick / red card. As it was, VAR could only intervene on the goal, as the foul was then a yellow offence.

Should be ok. Thanks to milner

IMO, the game needs to be getting refereed from others away from the pitch. I’ve said for a while now, put three ex-players or such, in a Stockley Park environment to make the important ā€˜democratic’ calls in a match, leave the numpty in the middle to relay the decisions. With the quality of the camera work these days, technology has certainly taken over from what the human eye can see from just the one angle, and I have yet to see a camera at the ground blowing hot-air from its arse after the first 5mins of a game like Jon Moss.
Put a fraudster or conman on trial for his life, ask who they would prefer, a jury trial where more than one pair of eyes and ears will bring a decision, or go up against a single judge who has a history of bias for not liking that particular individual…
The game has moved on at such a rapid pace over the last 50 or so years… the only area that hasn’t kept pace, is the human error/bias element dished out by the flaws in human nature

The foul in itself was a red card offense.

As far as I can tell from the rules I’ve seen posted, if the referee plays advantage in a DOGSO, then the red card gets downgraded to a yellow. Sure the offence itself was a red, but then because of that chain of events, the actual punishment is downgraded, similar to double jeopardy.

Go on any fan forum and they’ll all have a thread with a litany of injustices, some valid and some supposed.

All you’ve done here is just validate my point.

Jeeeeeze… Anyone but Owen

"…the next episode of ā€˜Mic’d Up’ featuring Webb will certainly gather a lot of attention and we will all be hoping for a strong performance from the man tasked with interviewing him.

Unfortunately for us all, that person is Michael Owen and so we haven’t exactly got ourselves the firmest of hands on what is a very important conversation…"

Owen is the regular host of the show and surely they won’t be talking about Coote anyway.

This is true, but across a lot of other fan opinion the perceived injustices are a bit thin.

Villa fans think they should have had three penalties on Saturday. That’s fucking absurd. I don’t it’s similarly absurd to call out the early challenge in the box on Nunez, and Coote viewing a lad jumping on Salah’s back while through on goal as ā€˜play on lads’.

I don’t think Arsenal fans have a leg to stand on with their complaints about their red cards, and I’ve seen them moaning that they should have had a winner against us despite there being three offences in the run up.

I think you have to stand back and look at this objectively. I think a lot of what you see Liverpool fans claiming on social media is twaddle, but there continue to be serious incidents surrounding our club and certain referees that go beyond tribalism. I’m thinking of Doku kicking Mac Allister in the chest. The Odegaard handball. Any number of red card challenges, handballs, and no pens. I’m certain that no club can claim to have had a legitimate goal ruled out because the VAR lad got themselves in a muddle.

I’ll say again. You don’t have to believe this is a vast spiderweb conspiracy. You just have to note that a lot of people in this country don’t like Liverpool. That proportion is particularly high in Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester is particularly over represented amongst referees. There you go.
