Look, the Blue Loon doesn’t think so, they think Robertson should have been sent off for that egregious act so obviously we’ve gotten lucky here, LiVARpool and all that…
It really is marginal so part of me thinks its silly arguing about, and is one of those old school ones where you criticize the defender for giving the ref the opportunity to give a pen. But this is exactly what VAR is supposed to be for - either where a ref drops a clanger and VAR gives us a chance for a do over, or there is a close call on some objective issue of fact and we use tech to help the ref make the right decision.
Nothing in that. The barge on Endo at the end and even Kelleher colliding into Armstrong were far bigger shouts.
Just another day where the officials get it horribly wrong.
I thought the ref did ok today apart from booking Bradley so early. Oliver on the other hand continues to be a cunt.
We should not be letting these twats get away with anything right now given what’s come out over the past 2 weeks. Sooner or later they’re going to start costing us points again.
That picture proves nothing as it doesn’t show where the initial contact took place. I don’t think any part of the attacker’s body was in the box.
As for Robbo’s foot being in contact with the line, does that mean it’s a pen if his right foot is on the line but his left trips the attacker when the attacker is a yard outside the box?
Nope.
The foul was outside the box. It made no real difference because we won.
Nut the fact remains, Oliver acted the bollox on the decision.
If the on-field ref had given a FK only, I doubt VAR would have overruled it.
It looked outside the box live and on replays. The decision also could have been very costly for us.
Although technically true, I think VAR’s rationale of ‘can’t rule out that it was on the line’ is one more of their ‘look after your mate’ decisions where they are doing their best to not overrule the on-field ref.
Ya just know we are going to get Oliver Sand Dune for the Cheaters game - If we go 11points clear of them next week, the PL is ours to lose… Howie and the people that pull his strings will not want that to happen…!
Bradley’s challenge deserved a yellow
Talking about challenges the blatant kick on Mo by Stephens, no attempt for the ball, just kicked him, why don’t refs have the balls to send a player off for violent conduct, no different than when Beckham got sent off against the Argies.
They think - We wish we were Liverpool fans!
I doubt anyone is questioning that. He clearly was trying to stop the player getting a run on him. Clearest yellow you’ll see.
I’m glad we have lost next weeks game already.
Saves me 2 hours of tuning in.
End of the day there are refs that are obviously corrupt, some hate us and some that just fuck up from time to time.
Problem is the last lot you shove in with the rest. I’m more of the assumption if you don’t get it on the field you don’t get it.
No one is saying that though? I don’t think anyone is saying we will lose against City.
Comments on who is going to ref etc are reasonable, given the recent Coote stuff…and the VAR and Lallana decision yesterday? Surely a nervous tension develops when you see who is officiating?
Jaffod said that he thought the ref was ok apart from the early booking to Bradley,
Which my post was in reply to!
At what stage does “no way are they letting us go 11 clear” not turn into we won’t win next week.
Completely unrelated to what your dispute about, but just to address that particular point –
Arne has not forgotten about Nottingham Forest. He will not forget, he will not forgive. He will get all the points until his vengeance is achieved.
Eh?
Just a Forest joke.
