A sacking is just, but it is still somewhat unsatisfactory as I want to know what he did. Is there an investigation? Not just a video where he had a go at Liverpool and Klopp, and an image of taking Cocaine at the World Cup, bad as those things are.
Betting records? Back-channel payments? Has that all been looked into? Leaving aside the conspiracy theory fringe, lots of Liverpool fans have serious misgivings about referee bias. There’s lots of data on it too, and Tomkins did a large piece a few years ago… and things have not improved since then.
Coote falls, but not necessarily for all the right reasons, and there’s a sense that the problem is much bigger, but will now be swept under the carpet with the assumption that it has been dealt with.

What happened to the independent investigation by the FA?

The scope of the investigation should be divulged, as well as all findings, if they want to draw a line under it and move on.
Otherwise the sense that the game is rotten and there are serious issues with PGMOL will not be assuaged.
I would imagine they will say something like this: “We looked into it, and yes, Coote needed to go so we fired him.” As if that now makes everything go away…
