The Referees or The Twelfth Man

Perhaps the answer might just be simple: highest (and perhaps only) bidder.

Just wondering if that earlier reply was directed at me in any way
 but if it was

at the end of the day, he was doing his day job on the pitch, until the story broke about him slagging off Jurgen
Surely if he had ‘mental’ issues - the PGMOL have failed in their due diligence monitoring the H&S, care and attention toward their employees
and he should not have been refereeing in a highly volatile, anxiety inducing environment
! For all we know, the pressures from Howie being short handed, has pressurised Coote to work when he wasn’t well enough
 Who knows eh.

However, if these ‘mental issues’ have only just come to the fore since the news broke, or the video surfaced
and what has it been, just a few months
then no doctor worth their salt, would be able to correctly diagnose, what exactly is wrong inside this guys head, in such a short time
!
It’s not as though he was in a mental ward of sorts being monitored or assessed on a daily basis.
I mean Coote can’t have it both ways can he
He either had issues before, in which case, he seemed to function well enough to draw his wages and the money FIFA pushed his way
or, he knew there was something wrong with him, yet he continued his duties, knowing full well, he was incapable of fulfilling them to the letter.
The timeline certainly needs scrutiny, rather than him spouting, what could well be, generic bullshit, regarding his well being

I think sky might have lined up an interview with him

I would.

Probably another reason we don’t want to join a Perez run league.

I am sorry I was not moaning as you put it but only was wondering why they were singing it. Now that it’s origins has been established I am quite happy for Everyman and his dog to sing it even though we sing it better than anybody else and with a lot more heart and meaning.

Today in stories of “refs in the Prem are uniquely bad because of specific issues around the game in England”

Because the grass is always greener

Watching our games and various Bundesliga games, I’d take the latter. It’s nice being able to watch a game and not notice the officials. Although, I did notice the ref in our PSV game who kept getting in the way was German.

There are really awful ones and ones that make one or two bad decisions and they are remembered forever.

It is true, not all are out to screw though there are 4 you’d wonder about.

Ancelotti would probably feel different if he had managed us, after all Pickford’s lunge was when he was manager. Guys a massive prick.

That Tony Scholes sounds like a bit of a knob.

This weekend showing these lot up for the incompetents that they are without the comfort blanket of VAR.

Man Utd and Newcastle , and now Blackburn immediately spring to mind

Do you think that they are reticent to flag for offside knowing that a goal could be flagged off if they get it wrong? Usually the flagging is spot on or too close to call.

Just inconsistent.
Didn’t flag Maguire, wrongly flagged for Blackburn.
Wilson goal for Newcastle shouldn’t have stood, very high foot.

Welcome to football as it used to be and how 99.99% still is. Ask any older toffee about Clive Thomas if you want to really wind them up.

Have a look at any old games on youtube. Full of goals that shouldn’t have been given and ones that should.

Very early days still of VAR but much better than the alternative.

The one thing VAR has done is highlight how many goals were wrongly allowed/disallowed in the past.
The only problem with VAR in this country are the cheats/incompetents running it.

Yup if the goals were the opposite we would have this robbing the magic of the cup.

As they were both for the big clubs they’ve been dusted under the carpet. Punditry is shocking.
