The Tennis Thread

Apologies, I think I must have read the numbers for Argentina on the weekly trend data for deaths from worldometer.

Australia suffered 1/5th of all its deaths in that 2-week period, not 1/3rd. Still stark but not quite as dramatic.

At the end of 2021, nearly 23 months on from Australia’s first case, 362,677 cases had been identified. In the 17 days since, a further 1,513,358 have been reported.

At the end of 2021, 22 months on from Australia’s first death, 2,239 deaths from covid had been reported. In the 17 days since, a further 537 people are reported to have died from the virus.

The fact this is hitting Australia hard even during their summer season is a bit of a concern.

Looks like he won’t be allowed into France and Spain without vaccination.

I thought Spain had already allowed him in?

Great to see Murray back and winning at a Slam again. Hope he can enjoy the last few seasons of his career.

Also great to see Raducanu come through a tricky 1st round. Her form’s been ropey since her surprise US Open win so it was good to see her hitting the ball well again. Plenty of ups and downs to come, no doubt, but I like her style.

It looks like Spain is going to follow France and introduce Covid rules for sporting events.

Spanish PM has said
“Any sportsperson who wishes to compete in our country must comply with the health rules of Spain".

A minster said, “What Mr. Djokovic has to do is get vaccinated, that would be the most sensible thing to do“

Casual misogyny from one of the male commentators on the BBC.

Murray and Raducanu on Court at the same time in a Grand Slam.

“I wonder if this is the first time GB has had two Grand Slam winners on Court in a Grand Slam at the same time? Certainly in the Open era, as we’ve only had Murray up to now. Probably since 1930 at least.”

Seemingly overlooking multiple Grand Slam winner, Virginia Wade, and French Open winner, Sue Barker.

Twat.

She’s a fighter.

Leveled at 1-1 with a killer blister.

But did Baker and Wade ever play at the same time whilst both were GS winners?

That was the question he was asking, maybe just poorly worded

Does anyone have pics of the blister?

Their Grand Slam careers overlapped between 1973 and 1984. Wade won the US Open in 1968, the Australian Open in 1972, and Wimbledon in 1977. Barker won the French Open in 1976. So from 1976 to 1984 they competed at 18 Grand Slam events together. It’s frankly inconceivable that they weren’t on Court at the same time during that period. Although they never faced each other in a Grand Slam I’d say it’s almost a certainty they were playing at the same time in a Grand Slam during this period.

It’s clear from when he then said that it could not have been in the Open era as Murray was the only one that he had totally overlooked Wade and Barker.

Kyrgios out :+1:

Really dislike that guy…

Oh my word… look at the muscles outlined in her arm…!
Not sure getting a ‘tug’ off her would be such a great idea… :flushed:
She might just despatch your member completely… with a case of ‘new balls’ please as well :0)

I’d take that chance

Fantastic moment for Aussies and Ash Barty. First time Aussie chick wins home slam since 78.

Husband is always kitted out in LFC gear. Tonight just the hat and mask. What a gig he has.

An amazing tennis match…5 1/2 hours. I honestly didn’t think Rafa could win in 5 sets. First time I have subscribed to Eurosport and for some reason had no commentary…their tech dept seem to think it is a Samsung software issue…

Nadal pushing the mark to 21 makes the while Djoko thing even sweeter.
