The TV Thread redux

Catching up to the 4th season of The Handmaid’s Tale (on Episode 6 right now). I really believe that this show should end in Season 2, or Season 3 the most. Now it just feels that the show is being drag along for the sake of getting another season for more money.

i think i read somewhere its like GOT

ran out of books to follow and lost its way…im not sure if it true but its sounds about right.

they still eke out a good moment here and there, but its far too clunky…not suttle enough and she should have been dead 5 times over pulling some of the stunts. saved becuase ‘people like her’ is not a strong plot line

I believe that there is another upcoming show called “The Testaments”, which is supposed to base on the follow up book to “The Handmaid’s Tale”? If that is the case, the show runner should close out “Handmaid’s” sooner rather than later.

One can only take so many doses of the same dystopian story line before burning out. (Which I am right now. I could no longer stomach more than 1 and a half episodes, unlike previous binge-watch.)

As it is now, yes.

Have tried to see if I could stream it anywhere else, but no dice.

Yeah, it’s fallen into almost torture porn territory. We get it. Life is shit for these women, but if you’re not going to go anywhere new with the story then it’s basically just uncomfortable viewing for its own sake. I stopped half way through the second series for exactly this reason

I havent read anything about it, but cannot imagine that is right as it appears the content for that is still part of the development of the original show. The book is set a generation after the first one, but she’s allegedly worked with the producers of the show to make sure their arc (not that there actually is one) goes in the direction of where this book will take the characters.

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but a It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the best comedies going. Think of Friends and how nice and caring and thoughtful they were of each other (99% of the time) then imagine the exact opposite.

Season 1 is good but it really kicks into gear in season 2 when Danny di Vito joins the cast.

If you do not like anti PC comedy then avoid as nothing is off limits.

Just started watching Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime. It’s brilliant TV. Possibly even more relatable for me given it’s just down the road but it really is worth a watch.

I’m not a big Clarkson fan or that interested in farming,so it wasn’t really something i’d go out of my way to watch but i must admit i thought it was a brilliant show, interesting to see how farms work (in a general sense,as he’s a fucking useless farmer) and funny to see the shoe on the other foot with his Mrs and his farm boy ripping the piss out of him for a change.

I doubt I could last more than five minutes of Clarkson without hurling my tv out of the window.

He really is a complete tit.

Yeah, whatever your opinion of Clarkson (and I’m not his biggest fan generally), it’s a really good watch.

Why?
Have you lost the telecommand?
I also hope your tele is as worthless as that worthless git!

HBO’s new series White Lotus is absolutely fantastic. It’s about the visit of a group of super entitled people at an exclusive Hawaiian resort. I’ve never seen the Aussie who plays the resort manager before but he was absolutely superb in his display of maintaining a smile with a rage bubbling up within.

Just started watching Battlestar Galactica (2004) again, so frak this thread!

Anybody watched the new season of La Casa De Papel/Money Heist yet? Wasn’t overly enamoured with it, I’m not sure if the show hits the same notes as it did in the initial couple of seasons, but there were some pretty funny interactions and plenty of OTT action scenes.

I know I’m a minority here, but don’t you people find series like Peaky Blinder or Money Heist tedious. They seem to start well but then drag on, on, and on.

You can probably say that to any series that have more than 2 seasons!

It’s not unusual for that to be the case, I can’t think of many shows that maintain a high standard throughout their lifespan whilst also having a satisfying ending point. A lot of these shows turning into huge money spinners eventually hinders the quality IMO, the demand for more content from the big networks and streaming platforms usually results in them dragging on for two or three more seasons than they need to.

I struggled with Peaky Blinders - especially the first series - But with persistence, an interpreter and using the subtitles I was just about able to understand what they were saying.

For those who have missed it so far, go to iPlayer and catch up on Vigil.

From the same guys the did Line of Duty and the first 3 episodes have been brilliant

Tom Hardy was what kept me interested in Peaky Blinders, some of his best work to date.
