Final season of Umbrella Academy came out last week. The missues is laid low with a foot injury so we watched it. It’s good if you turn your brain off and don’t think about how stupid any of it is.

Like Chelsea’s transfer window.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, pure popcorn TV, and wrapped up reasonably neatly

Nah. That’s never good.

I enjoyed the first season of Umbrella Academy, not sure why I never watched the following seasons. Maybe I went on strike after Netflix cancelled Bebop Cowboy so quickly.

It’s fun, and for a few seasons it was surprisingly well done. But it pushes itself a bit into a corner with how convoluted things get with the time jumps and implications of that. By this 4th season they are in a place where they give you an in universe explanation for what is happening and what they need to do that makes zero real sense and you just have to nod and go along with it. Bit of a shame it went out like that, but like Kone I still found it thoroughly enjoyable as someone who liked the first 3 seasons

Sounds like going shopping with the missus.

Just watched the first two episodes of Bad Monkey. Cant wait for the next one. Hadnt realised it was adapted from a Carl Hiaasen novel.

Really enjoying it so far - although a little triggered by vince vaughan’s hair :grinning:

Dont know why the monkey doesnt appear in the trailer though…

Yeah , the Ralph Bakshi one.

Downloaded that when the LOTR was at its peak.

Very late, as usual, but Slow Horses is fantastic.

@cynicaloldgit is the main character!

Just saw some clips of “evil”, looks interesting, not sure how it’s flown under my radar.

Edit: 1 episode in.

It’s cracking, and just gets better as the seasons build. Lamb is a fantastic character.

Started the new tv remake of Time Bandits last night and it is so incredibly disappointing. It’s got all the beats of a comedy that should work as a reworking of such a classic film, but just none of it works. Two episodes in and I didnt even smile once.

I think it improves over time. I haven’t watched the whole thing yet. I think they have gradually moulded it to Lisa Kudrow. For a character actress, she sort of has one character.

I was hesitant about watching this as I loved the original movie, and Lisa Kudrow’s acting is just too wooden. I thought the main kid did OK, and his parents were sort of fine at being annoying as the parents from the movie but other than the stone henge scene in episode one, I thought it was poor. (To be honest I only liked the stonehenge bit because it riffed on an idea I had years ago for book :rofl:)

@Klopptimist and @Limiescouse …lets have an argument again…

see the acolyte series 2 got cancelled…to the celebration of the ‘go woke go broke’ brigade

what a shame, really thought it was a great little series and deserved further exploration…

didnt even really see how it was so woke either… a black lead character is hardly revolutionary in this day and age…a coven of witches- more cliche than woke…

would have loved to have seen it develop and see a peak Yoda, Palpatines master maybe even palpatine himself by series three… (cheers @Limiescouse ) etc etc…

Gave it a few attempts, didn’t make it to the end. Thought it was shite tbh. :man_shrugging:

It definitely had its faults, but it was a story I enjoyed nonetheless and is one of those from the known Star Wars universe that we know fans wanted to see get told. It allows a bit of fan service while also doing something new. It’s a shame that the predictable online criticisms of the show, one that started being aired before anything was shown and had nothing to do with what it was actually about, seemed to now kill the possibility of us ever getting a proper Plaguies story.
