The TV Thread redux

It’s quality - but I would also call it “bleak” if I was allowed just one word to describe it. The reveal at the end especially.

Life of chuck which is based on a stephen king novella is his latest one.

He’s got another project due 2026 which does have a proper title yet.

He owns the rights to the tv adaptation of the Dark Tower, but who knows if we’ll ever see that. He got big press a year or two for launching a new production company and confirming a big deal with Amazon. Lot of the coverage connected the dots as Bezo’s desire for them to have their own their own Got style epic means they are probably the only company out there who would be willing to back such a grand scale production that the Dark Tower would require, but I havent heard any progress on it since then.

He did announce recently though that he was doing a TV adaptation of Carrie through that Amazon deal.

Offsetting the bleakness with a more cheerful murder mystery - OMitB.

Also, he’s slated to work on TV show adaption of Carrie. I have to express my continuous disappointment with remakes and sequels that are fed to us lately (save for a few exceptions such as Eggers’ Nosferatu, which will be a complete reimagining). With all the quality writers out there, you’d think that there should be a torrent of original, gripping work in cinema and TV.

I missed it first time but there are hidden ghosts EVERYWHERE

I started seeing them pretty late and in very obvious locations (there was some scene in the outside where the black shape is clearly visible against the green backdrop in one scene), so when I finished the season, I looked up all of their appearances. So, so clever from Flanagan!

The best bit is that while some of them are really clear once you start looking past the focus of the shot (especially scenes in and around the main staircase) some of them you have to really squint to try to see.

See this Michael Myers looking MFer over in the right corner as an example of the clear ones that are easy to see once you know to look in the corners and is present a lot

But its more these guys that drive the impact

It means even as a viewer you know there is lurking you just arent entirely sure where, and when you see something you dont know if it is real or if you are seeing something in the shadows that isnt there.

I’ll give it a watch at some point. Just got too many other shows on my list at the moment, and not enough time to watch it all.

Never heard of it, so I googled it.

What the fuck is “steampunk” meant to be? :man_shrugging:

It’s ok, the phrase was only coined in the '80s, so well after your time…

I get the sense of frustration at not being acknowledged lol, so I will say I greatly enjoyed the first season (despite never having played League of Legends or knowing anything about its lore), and plan to watch the second… just haven’t got around to it yet.

Put simply, modern Science Fiction but in the style of Jules Verne and HG Wells. However, there is a whole fandom associated with it.

Thanks, but I’ll stick to my nihilism.
