I’d be more concerned with her lack of acting ability than her looks, she’s absolutely gorgeous.
You mean the Lara Croft, especially the reboot series in the game is going to be better than the actors (oh wait, Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander did reprise that role)? ![]()
With the latest murder, I can see this season of the Traitors fizzling out. Not a single faithful left who is remotely interesting or intelligent, going to be plain sailing for one or both of the traitors now.
Watched Seven Dials on Netflix. I’m not really familiar with the original book but understand there are some differences. I liked the first two episodes but the ending was a little disappointing. Casting a little baffling too, not sure whether there was some filming that was left out of the final version.
Felt like they are setting up for another season…
I checked this out and it looks like the last half hour was essentially shoehorned on from the book.
Interestingly, the book itself was actually a sequel, but being written in 1929 it is now in the public domain (at least in the US). It looks like they are getting control of Agatha Christie IP without the restrictions of a Miss Marple or Poirot.
I actually enjoyed the series, but a sequel looks like a distinct possibility.
Watched A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms first episode and largely enjoyed it. Already looks much better than whatever the second show was.
I found it odd. To devote an entire episode to framing who the two characters were and how they met makes sense for a first episode of a new show. But there are only 6 episodes in the whole series. In that context, it being 16% of the entire show, it’s remarkable how little they got into 45 minutes.
It’s been very well received by critics so I’ll watch it, but it was the sort of episode that is going to earn viewers for ep2 because of the name and reputation rather than any compelling reason to come back based on what it showed in ep1
I don’t disagree with that. I didn’t know it was only 6 episodes long, and that was only roughly 45 minutes. They know they don’t need the hook first episode, they will get people to watch.
There is so much telly on right now that maybe I’d have appreciated more if there was less to watch.
Pitt S2
Industry S4
Night Manager S2
Fall Out S2
Hijack S2
Ponies
The tree scene was…unnecessary. Not sure why that made it in lol.
I disagree, the poop squirt was quite informative.
I enjoyed the first episode.
I’ve been a bit disappointed with S2 of Night Manager. It’s still worth watching, but it feels far more like a British version of Amazon’s interpretation of Jack Ryan than it does a Le Carrie story. I don’t think they get Le Carrie’s vibe and just want to turn it into James Bond
We’re watching The Morning Show. It’s not my choice, but long term relationships require give and take.
Anyway, we’re on season 3 at the moment after a long break, and it’s a pretty bizarre watch. It started as a well intentioned fairly liberal look at US TV news, and has attempted to incorporate real life events into the plot. It started out with Me Too, touches on BLM, Covid etc. Now it’s got to Jan 6th, and the format; soapy, airbrushed US unreal fantasy, just isn’t cut out to handle anything that dark, disturbing and real. It’s really jarring seeing them trying to use the insurrection as a backdrop for the petty problems of overpaid news anchor divas. I can’t imagine how it will cope with the growing horrors of US politics.
In the section on Jan 6th, everyone in the show is unequivocally horrified, as we all were. It’s impossible to imagine, watching it, that five years later all the rioters would be free and Trump back in the White House.
As I said, I’m finding it a hard watch, but it’s also compelling in a trainwreck way.
It looks like “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” will only be available on HBO Max in Germany. At the moment they still have a lot of HBO series on WOW (Sky Deutschland streaming service) but I don’t know how long this will last.
Anyway, my wife has suggested getting an HBO Max streaming subscription for my birthday. What’s worth watching on that?
Similar to what @Limiescouse said about AKOSK, I got the end of episode one and found myself just a bit confused because I felt like absolutely nothing happened. Apart from projectile shitting.
But the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive so I’ll stick with it.
I tried Hijack, the Idris Elba show, as S2 was just released but I quit after the first episode. Can’t stand shows that create “tension” by just having characters fail to communicate like real humans.
The Wire and The Sopranos if you’ve never watched either. The Last of Us and Chernobyl*
* Not seen this one but always comes highly recommended.
Mock the Week is BACK baby!!! ![]()
Isn’t it on some odd channel with no catchup app?
TLC. Not sure if they have the app setup
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is moving along very slowly, and that is not surprising as the story is short and could have been done in 4 episodes max. Still enjoyable though.
