The TV Thread redux

John Lithgow is exceptionally versatile. From 3rd rock to Dexter is a considerable leap (Ricochet character as well).

How about actresses?

Meryl Streep, Kathy Bates, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand?

TBH, it’s easy to get stuck on anglophone actors. I’d throw these in to the list pf top notch German (speaking) actors:

Christoph Waltz, Jürgen Prochnow, Franka Potente, Daniel Brühl, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger, Sebastian Koch, Jürgen Vogel, Florian Lukas

It’s pretty violent. Most of the non-Ghibli anime are rather violent (or erotic).

Gandhi, Don Logan, Himself (Sopranos)?

Glorious character. Ben for the gold.

Like a crocodile, fat crocodile, fat bastard. You look like fucking Idi Amin, you know what I mean? Stay here? You should be ashamed of yourself. Who do you think you are? King of the castle? Cock of the walk?

Drops of God on Apple is odd but delightful.

It’s a joint French/japanese show. An idealistic French wine maker becomes frustrated with the stuffy attitudes to wine at home so moves to Japan and makes a name for himself as a world renowned expert and over the years accumulates the most expensive personal collection in the world. When he dies he makes his estranged daughter compete with his Japanese protege in a series of wine tasting challenges to win the inheritance

Saw the first season and found it a bit contrived. The main characters weren’t very likeable either.

And now for something (almost) completely different

Finished Dark Winds Season 3 last night. Really enjoyed it. Hope they do a fourth season.

Industry S4 ended. Fucking dark stuff, but Kit Harrington was incredible. Some of the lines he was given as as the down on his luck member of the nobility were incredible, at one point referring to a passport as a civilian pauper document

Well done! It’s a brilliant series. There’s no reason not to continue because the standard hasn’t dropped and there’s plenty of scope for character development.

Totally gratuitous…

It was based on series of books by Tony Hillerman who has since passed away (you may have noticed he is no longer named as an executive Producer for season 3 but a Sarah Hillerman I think is). I don’t know how many more books in the series there are.

Well, there are clearly some very talented people working on it, not only the cast, so I’m hopeful that they can keep up the standard.

Watched the first three episodes of the Scrubs reboot.

On the one hand it is unnecessary and to make it happen they’ve undone some of the ending, which is a shame.

On the other, it feels like scrubs, hits similar beats (even uses a couple of the old stories in passing), and scratches a nostalgic itch. I’ll keep watching it. It’s good.
