He’s going to be haunting Goodison for eternity.
That one with Toni Collette is bollocks.
Finally watching The Responder. Harsh, but compelling so far.
Game of Thrones
When the pandemic started I’ve binged the whole series in the space of two weeks. Before that I’ve never watched an episode.
Last week I tested positive for Covid (no symptoms) and i had the whole series on tv again during quarantine.
What I found out last week is that people did not like the ending or the whole final season of it.
Personally I felt very entertained until the end and can not see anything which changes my mind on it easily being in the Top3 best TV shows ever made.
I enjoyed it too - although agree that the last few seasons were much weaker and the Daenerys of the last season deserved a Vlad-the-Impaler-type bad death.
But the one I really couldn’t stomach was Stanis burning his daughter for the ‘lord of light’. Made me feel almost physically ill in a way that I never do wrt to TV. No real problem with any of the other deaths - red wedding etc - but Stanis and the red lady could never have an end grisly enough.
I think there are some shows that likely dont give you the full experience if you binge them after the fact. With GOT there so much going on, so much intrigue and possibility about what the things you had seen could mean for the future that when you were forced to wait for the next episode, or next series, it encouraged so much contemplation. It was a real investment way beyond the time taken to watch the episodes. And the way they resolved the two main plot points, in such a rushed underwhelming way, made all that investment feel pointless.
Without that it is still 90% astonishingly good tv, but while watching it live it was about so much more than that. The journey all of the characters were on was about getting to a resolution and when you see how disappointing those resolutions are it makes the journey seem a bit pointless.
Dark. It’s difficult to keep track of events and characters ping-pong-ing among three timelines.
What?
More timelines to keep track of are coming.
I’m not a huge John Cena fan but must admit, having watched the 2nd Suicide Squad and first season of Peacemaker on Sky over the weekend,it wasn’t a bad watch and quite funny in parts, anyone into super heroes, with blood n guts and comedy should enjoy it,I’d put it in the same category as the boys on Amazon.
I would like to watch Peacemaker but am waiting until it comes onto one of my existing services.
I watched the first couple of episodes of the book of Boba Fett last night and can see why people thought it underwhelming. I also watched a few episodes of Loki which I enjoyed more - but not as much as I enjoyed the live action Cowboy Bebop when that came out on Netflix…
I’m looking forward to seeing the Mobius and Moonknight series when they launch. Would be good to have some superhero show to enjoy alongside my addiction to Superstore.
Didn’t watch Taboo, my mate spoke about it so I had a look at the trailer and stuff.
Did people look like this back in 1814? Undercut, pomade, beard trimmer, the lot.
For a moment I thought it’s SF and Tom Brady’s character went back in time.
Being a Wrestling fan, he’s defo down there at 1 of my least fave but sometimes you have to admire the work and dedication one puts in.
From an actings POV I think I’ve only seen him in 2 or 3 but leading Bumblebee with Hailee Stienfeld I thought he was pretty good in.
Anyone else see Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars the other day?
No! Are you sure that it actually happened? Surely it would have been mentioned somewhere?
Who’s Oscar?
Anecdotally, the Uncle of an Academy Awards ‘Bigwig’ who said the statue looked like her Uncle Oscar.
Heard really good things about Station 11, but so far finding it a bit silly. I’m definitely more interested in the backstories than the post-apocalypse plot.
About 10-15 minutes into Moon Knight - I have absolutely no clue what is going on.
Does it actually get any better later into the episode?
